    Default KimPossible!

Happy New Year to you! I hope all goes smoothly with your new family member and of course I'd love some pictures when you have a moment. (In a year or so...LOL!)

    Thank you! Same to you!

I'm still sitting here waiting for this little one to arrive. Two days ago i thought I might have the beginnings of something, but no such luck!

I received a new camera for Christmas so we will definitely be taking a lot of pictures when this little one arrives. I'll keep you updated!

I hope you and your family have a wonderful year laying ahead of you!

Yeah for new babies! Are you all set for her, just awaiting her arrival?

I'm probably as set as I'll ever be. I'll just say we are 'set enough' LOL.

See we are living with my in-laws right now. We moved to Maine over the summer and we own a lot of land that we will be building on, but until the house is built, we are living with MIL and FIL. They had three empty bedrooms, so we filled them right back up again (2 kids in a room and one for me and DH). This means that baby will be staying in our room.

Soo...there was no really 'bedroom' space to set up for the baby. We will probably use the pack n play next to our bed for now.

And on top of that....this baby was a little bit of a surprise, so I had started purging little baby items as Nathalie grew out of them. I'm missing a lot of 'gear' and clothes that i really should have! Fortunatley my sister had not gotten rid of all her stuff and was able to give me plenty of clothes to start off with!

I've cleaned all the baby clothes, and purchased a little 'dresser' to put them in.
We have newborn diapers and size 1 diapers.

Things I have to do absolutely do is

-wash the cover to the infant car seat (which we fortunately still had!)...and the winter thingy that we have to go in it. And a couple of other baby gear things that i had held on to, like the Baby Bjorn.

-I have to go retrieve the pack n play and set it up in our room.

-retrieve the breast pump from storage

Things I have to buy are

    -baby bottles

-a baby bathtub (we got rid of our old one!)

-possibly a new bouncer seat because we can't find all the pieces to the old one, only the cloth part!

-breast pads (I got rid of my good merino wool ones last time around as well)

-burp cloths, i can't seem to find any in our stuff!

But those things to do and things to buy i'm trying to take all in stride, they could really be done even after the baby comes home and I don't want to stress out about it.

Our hospital bag is pretty much packed and ready to go...so that means I am too

I'm sure you weren't expecting an itemized list, but you gave me the chance to 'verbalize' it and that helped me feel less stressed out, so thank you!

(oh, incidentally, i looked up breast pads on Ravelry, thought maybe I would just make myself some, but i didn't see raving reviews of any and I'm hesitant to rely on just those!)

Alas, i did not! which is a shame. She will probably wear a hat that I did knit for Lillian at birth. Its the hat from this set

    http://www.knittingatknoon.com/FSsweetpea.html

And let me tell you the hat is fantastic for newborns...but only for newborns, as they grow out of it very quickly..and then it starts popping off.

I'm going simple this time for a going home outfit. Layette basics. I have a grey and white striped long sleeve onsie and a pair of pink sweater knit pants, but machine knit, bought at the gap...not made by me!

However....to ensure our homemade craftiness is most definitely present, she will be going home in the baby bunting that my husband sewed for her! I just thought that was the sweetest thing for him to do. He is not an avid sewer. Over our 9 years of marriage he has used the machine probably less than 10 times. Maybe twice to sew hems in his pants, once for curtains and then a handful of times for Halloween costumes. After hte last go of it though, he said he kind of likes it

DSIL has used DD's sewing machine and helped make baby slings for friends. I love it!!! He enjoys selecting the fabric too. (He's using one in my siggy photo.)
