    Default My First Socks

    Ok, I have to share...

This evening, I finished my very first pair of socks. I really enjoyed knitting them. I think socks are pretty darn fun!

Pretty! I have one pair of socks I made. I have intentions to make more, but there are so many other things ahead on my list.

OOoh! They came out nice! I think socks are fun too, but I've only done it twice. I still have an awesome ball of sock yarn to use though when i have time to start a new project!

Kim, what sock yarn do you have? I've been browsing around ravelry, looking at the FO's people made with certain yarns. And I've just been drooling like crazy over the many different colorways.

    Its this http://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library...tish-superwash

I bought it at a local yarn festival. The one I purchased is a really nice green colorway...darker than the one in the pic.

While she is local to me, she does have an etsy shop.

    She makes niiiiiiice yarn

I just bought a book on how to make socks on my loom. So excited. Questions do socks have to be of wool?

No, they don't have to be! In fact, the ones I made were a cotton/nylon blend.

I made a pair for Nathalie that was a bamboo nylon blend. They really can be made of almost anything...although a plain cotton with nothing else blended in would probably stretch out and become mishapen i would imagine.

Its good to have some nylon blended in for socks....to help with durability. You can also buy a 'reinforcer' nylon thread that you can work in only on the heel and the 'ball' area of the foot to help with those places since they tend to be worn out faster.
