New Group Fun...Lets do Dishrag Tag!!

Ok, its been a while since we did our knit-a-longs.....I've used my purse all summer (who cares that a felted wool purse is out of season in august )

Anyway, i figured maybe its time to do something new. Michelle and I were talking and thought it would be fun to do dishrag tag!

Here is how it works.

One person starts out by knitting up a dishrag, whatever pattern they would like. They then send the dishrag, and a new skein of yarn along to another person. That person gets to keep the newly knit dishrag and knits a new one with the new skein of yarn. That new dishrag goes to the next person, again, along with a new skein of yarn...and you keep it going until everyone has both received and given! Often a small token gift is included as well, like a candle, a nice bar of soap, chocolate or something along those lines.

The nice things about this project:
1)Dishrags are useful and easy to do...those of ALL levels can participate
2)Dishrags are a small project, made of cotton, not wool or anything fancy so its affordable!
3)Its fun...i mean gift giving, recieving and knitting all wrapped into one!

And of course crochet is welcome to!

Yes! Count me in! It sounds like fun!

(BTW, I know the Booga Bag KAL was months and months ago, but I've bookmarked that pattern so I can make one soon. It's just so darn cute!)

I would love to but definitely not until after the holidays are over. I'm knitting every spare minute I have to try and finish the projects I hope to have done by Christmas Lol

I crochet, and would love to join, if you don't mind (I'm sure you don't, but I know I don't post here often Lol )

Count me in, too. I've only knitted one dishrag so far (and still have yet to use it) but I'd like an excuse to knit another. Let's just make sure that all yarns are machine washable and dryable.

Wouldn't a "handwash only" dishrag always be clean? Biggrin

I'm in, and I think our crocheting friends can get in on this too. I think crochet actually makes better dishrags!

Ok, so far we have 7 people, 2 who want to be after Christmas. I will wait until we get about 3 more people...so we have 10 total. We will definitely be able to put people after the holiday.

Nice thing about this project to is that if more people join later....we can tack 'em on to the end! Lol

Also, for those who might end up going before Christmas...don't worry if you get sidetracked a little, we all understand how those things go!

What a great idea. Right now, with work and the upcoming holidays I won't be able to participate. Would love to do something like this again over the summer, when I'll have more time to participate!!

Alrighty, we've had a bit of a 'lull' in replies, so I'm going to post around on a few select boards and see if we can get the participation we need to get started...only one or two more should do!

Ok! I think we have enough people to get this started....I will leave 'sign up' open for now. The only thing this means is that the person at the 'end of the chain' may have to change who they ship their dishcloth to.

For all those who want to participate, please PM me with your address info. I am not sure if we have any Canadian participants right now, but just in case, please include if you are willing to ship out of country or not. After I get the list set up, i will send everyone the person they are supposed to ship to!

Anyone who said they would like to join, that doesn't give me their address in the next couple of days I will send a PM out to, just because its the holidays and all, i'm sure it could be easily missed.

I promise that I will put everyone who said they need to be after the holidays at the end!

I love this list of links, but I've only been able to try out 5 or so. I can't wait to see what they turn out like!

Will we be posting pictures of the ones we give/receive?

Okay, I know this is really old, but is it still open? I followed the link in Misty's signature and since I just started crocheting this week... dishrags are what I'm practicing on. Lol #1 looked pretty rough, but #2 is shaping up much better and I'm sure by the time my turn rolls around I'd be pretty good at it.

That would be awesome. The other link in this thread just has knitting patterns. My current rags are just a certain # of stitches across and trying to make it as tall as it is wide so it's a square. ROFL Boring, but functional.

If you want, I can send it to your email, they're saved as word documents(they were all free from different online sources).

ETA: Here is the basic link I used to find most of them, http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/dishcloths.php

Kari, PM me your Address information, and I will give you the person that you will be sending to. Those signing up now, will be near the end of the chain so it might be a while before you get your package.

I am *promising* that my package is going out no later than this Saturday to get this thing rolling. I've been terrible at making sure its started. But this is my own self made deadline, because I'm sure people are getting impatient.

There are couple of people i still need to send address info to, when I do, I will count your information in with it! Along with your Address, include if you are willing to ship out of country in the PM.

Thanks!

Hi Megan, PM me your information and I will add you to the list. We have 15 participants so far, you would be number 16....i probably wouldn't want to take more than 20. But either way, that means your in! PM me your address and also include if you are willing to ship out of country and I will get you into the list. I will give you a PM back with information on who you should send to.
