A Project of a Different Kind!

DS has been working in Haiti. He has a school he is revamping on a volunteer basis with some very knowledgeable friends. He has asked me to visit in December and teach parents (mostly women I imagine) to knit & crochet! This will seriously test my French skills. In any case, I have been given loads of yarn by my friend who runs a shop in town. I also collected scissors, needles, basic books and patterns, rulers, etc. He will be visiting here for a week soon, and people are already collecting pencils, pens, skipping ropes, etc for the school. It's mighty exciting and a huge challenge.

I have a bit of yarn leftover from some projects, a few extra sets of needles, and a couple books that I don't need if you are interested in them. PM me with an address and I can ship them off to you if you would like.

The wool probably isn't as good as the stuff you have, it's mostly basic beginner acrylic 4 ply, but it's yours if you want it Smile

DH & I are visiting DS in December in Haiti. The travel dates are set. A mighty exciting work holiday! Taking the yarn down then.

We're back and now I am finally pulling out mistakes from the dark brown and pale blue sweater I started for Leo last year and moving forward! It's slow going and I'm nervous about having enough wool in the right color.
I'm always amazed at how sizes vary according to directions. I'm aiming for an 18 month size but the measurements go anywhere from 12-24 months it seems.

Still making progress on Leo's sweater. Back and front are finished, then I started the hoodie. Next the sleeves. It just may fit Ivy though...

Wouldn't you know I found more yarn I loved today. I have such a stash I have no business getting more.... but I'm weak!
