Ok, so remember how i posted about knitting continental style a while ago? Well, I started a new project that as a lot of St Stitch and Idecided that it was time to learn to Purl Continental as well.
First, I want to say that I think Knitting Continental was way easier to get a hang of than Purling. The motion was fluid and easy...but when i tried purling I really had a hard time getting it down to a smooth motion. Now that I'm about 1/3rd through the project its getting better but the way I'm holing the yarn stll seems to cramp my hand. I need to move my index finger down, pushing the yarn down with it in order to slide the stitch through and the old one off, and when I do that i think I tighten the rest of my figners up that are holding onto the needle.
I was a bit disappointed because when I leanred knitting continental it was like "Holy cow this is so fast and I love it!" But this purling thing didnt' quite meet my expectations. The slight cramping/discomfort is enough to make me shy away from using continental standardly.
I just want to know, am I doing something wrong? Or could those of you who already know continental see how i might feel this way. Is there anyhing I can do to make it better?
