Really dumb question

Do you have to use the circular needles to make a hat??

I bought the "itty-bitty hats" book and want to start with the first pattern. But first I need to buy some 16-inch circular needles. Do you just knit the same only in "rounds" instead of "rows"

????

Circular needles are great! You don't HAVE TO use them though. The multiple needles I used for the 2 grandsons' hats were straight, as the pattern suggested.

If you use circular needles, there is no seam to sew up. You can also used double pointed needles.

But if you figure it out, you can do it flat and sew it up. Be sure to have a couple of extra stitches for the seam.

Only saw the book advertised, isnt in the bookstore so I cant wait to see the pictures from your project! GL and KUP. I kinda do what i am in the mood for when it comes to needles and what i have on hand. A friend gave me her aunts and her aunt's friends needles so i am not going to buy any anymore. I have enough and backups too.

you can find metal needles on ebay sometimes cheap, as people are switching to the wooden ones. One of the ladies in my knitting group will only use circular needles, as they are lots lighter and she has gotten used to them and really likes them. She uses them for everything she knits now.

My mom told me one of her hardcore knitting friends now only uses circular needles, too. She got rid of all her straight needles and got lots of circular needles on craigslist.
