    Default Sick of crappy patterns!

So I subscribe to like every crochet magazine imaginable. The ONLY one I end up liking is Crochet Today although that one is starting to suck too.
It seems like there are so many stupid cheesy patterns that they find just to fill up space! I was so excited when Crochet today came out last year, they had so many MODERN patterns of things I actually want to make. Now it just seems like they find crap because they need to meet their deadlines and fill the pages.
    Anyone else feel this way?

Do you subscribe to Interweave crochet? I know it only comes out a couple of times a year, but I've seen some nice things in there.

Admittedly overall as i've looked over crochet pattersn i have had better luck finding stuff I like in books, moreso than most mags (Interweave being the exception)...but its nowhere near as good of a deal.

I mean in mags, you get so many patterns for only 5 - 8 dollars. In books, you are lucky to get more than 20...for 15 bucks or more!

I do like interweve, actually. They have alot of clothing and things and I am more about baby stuff and accessories though.
I do like alot of books out there, but like you said, they can be pricey!

I think that knitting is more popular right now, hence the lack of "cool" crocheting patterns. But my mom has lots of nice historical patterns (from the 70s when crocheting was "cool") so maybe looking for vintage patterns?

Have you signed up for Ravelry yet? It's still in beta so you won't be able to get in for a few days, but it is a community of knitters and crocheters, and full of patterns and sources. I'm sure the crocheters on there could point you towards some really nice patterns!

I am finding lots of great how-to magazines with patterns at our library! Have you tried there?
