ps- I've never thought of crocheting socks- ohhhh that sounds like fun! Maybe I'll try both!

here's a free crochet pattern- the pictures on there aren't that appealing, but the ones that people have done on ravelry from the pattern are super cute! and it has specifications for all different weights of yarn

I'd say we have enough people interested to start picking out some patterns to choose from. Any patterns including the one jendodd posted will be included. Then after we get a couple of each...maybe we can pick from them (and stash away the rest to use for a future KAL!)

There is a pattern on interweave crochet with a pair of socks that are knit, but the top is done in a crochet grannysquare pattern. To me, they aren't the most flattering pair of socks, but it might be interesting to simply try. I should check out ones on ravelry to see if this pattern too looks better when done than in the pics!

wow, so i went to go look for the socks and I saw that the new Interweave Crochet is out. THere is a cute (albeit intricate) pair of socks in it! And there is a cute little baby dress in it too! As well as a couple of other projects that I liked.

I may have to go out and actually buy my first volume of Interweave Crochet!

I would love to but I have so many projects that Im trying to finish before I start anything new.
Plus I dont knit well enough (well, at all really) to knit socks. I could crochet them, but I never have and I dont really like the look and thickness of crcheted socks.
I will definitly join in on the next knit/crochet-a-long.

I want to try. I have never followed a pattern before but if we are doing it at the same time maybe I could learn to read the symbols.

This one seems OK for beginners as far as I can tell it only has. Single crochet, double crochet and chaining. Can any one tell me when it says Turn do I chain when truing also or just turn the project over? And when it says do in _______ stitch do you pick up the entire stitch or just one loop of the stitch?

Just waiting for my box to get here from knit picks- and it has yarn for 3 prs of sock yarn in it.

Im going to do just a basic sock for the first pair with some varigated yarn. I have 3 or 4 pairs of sock patterns in my queue I want to do for set #2. I think I'm going to try toe-up since you can fit them to your feet as you go, and then don't have to worry about if you have enough to finish. I'd like to use the 2 circular needle method too.
