Leia's 4th birthday (as if!) is fastly appraoching..... I am just in shock at how fast these years go!! So, she is 3yrs and 7months old and as I've said before, is much older than her years.
Some of the things she says to me are just the cutest.
If she upsets me because she has been shouting at me, she will say "I am so sorry mummy, are you still my friend?" absolutely heart melting.
We were in the car the other night and she said "bank cards turn to money" so we got into a discussion about how money goes into a bank account and you use a bank card to take it out again. Anyway, we got interrupted as we were in the queue to McDonalds (haha) and after I had got the food etc she said "sorry about that mummy, what were you saying?" haha. That is such a grown up phrase to be using at 3 imo.... adorable.
I took her swimming for the first time (don't hate on me) about 3 weeks ago and I was worried she wouldn't like it. She's one of those kids in the bath that hates getting water on her face..... anyway.... at first she was jubious and as she was walking into the pool she kept saying "Mummy! Mummy! Mummy!" lol. She was so excited but so nervous at the same time. After about half an hour, she was in LOVE! She was squealing from excitement and as she got braver was telling me to let her go so she could swim on her own with her arm bands on haha. We will defo be making it a regular thing :)
We have been talking about a holiday recently as we haven't been anywhere nice and hot for a while now. Of course, Leia has caught onto this and keeps telling me what she will be doing when we go on holiday.... ie making sand castles, playing in the pool, swimming in the sea haha, too cute!
That's about it for now, she still loves school and is still a very tired little girl when the day is over with but all in all she's doing great :)
Leia turned 4 a few weeks ago.... still can't get my head around it!
She had a great day :) We visited the indoor play area and then the sun came out so we barbecued it up and she got great use out of her new trampoline.
I have been struggling a lot with her the last month or so, due to her temprement. She is a little bossy boots and very defiant, so I end up having a conversation like I would with an adult! It can be very frustrating when alls you want is for her to do as you're telling her, yet she's saying "stop talking to me then"..... "I wasn't talking to you" you can imagine the kind of voice it's being said, right? I try to do time out which is usually her sat on the bottom step leading to upstairs. It is so difficult though because she has a complete meltdown. She will scream at the top of her lungs and whatever she is holding at the time gets thrown on the floor or at the walls! (oh yes, she can be the she devil lol).
She's still getting on really well at school. In fact, this is the last week in pre-school and she starts properly in September. It goes soooo fast!
Oh my GOSH, I can't believe I have left it so long between updating on LC!
After reading through previous posts, no WAY will I leave it as long because it just brought back so many memories.
Soooo, she started school full time back in September. I can't believe I have a child in Reception, soon to be Year 1!
The first few weeks settling in to full time school were rough. On one occasion, she flushed her now best friends skirt down the toilet!! On another, she was casually washing her hands and she apparently said out loud "I'm washing my f*cking hands"...... when the teacher pulled me into the school that day, I cried like a baby. We try our best to not swear around DD and she had never sworn at home so I was shocked. I was also told that someone had seen her sticking up her middle finger, but she flat out denied it and I believe her. She wouldn't know how to swear using hand gestures! I don't think I know one person who does that. If she had done it, she would have cried and said sorry but no - she promised me she never and I know my own child.
Anyway, like I said I was mortified.... more from embarrassment. You think the worst "do they think I'm a bad Mum", "do they think that alls I do is swear around my child?" it is awful.
In the end, she was put on a report, kind of. Basically, the teacher would write in the book on a daily basis to let me know how she was behaving in school and I would do the same for the evening so the teacher could see how she was at home. The teacher also made a reward chart with her so we had one at home. It worked wonders! Her behaviour in school has now changed dramatically - she is always coming home with stickers for good behaviour and I am so proud :)
She has a BFF now, called Macy. They are SO cute to watch together, I mean you can just see complete love for one another. Macy is taller but I can tell that Leia is the bossy one out of the two. I don't think she will ever change in that way haha.
We had some issues with having friends around or her going to friends houses. She would kick up a major fuss, cry and moan that she didn't want to leave or she didn't want her friend to leave our house. That also is 100% better. Over the winter months, she never played with our neighbours daughter - we all hibernated lol. Since the weather has gotten better, they have played on numerous occasions and Leia has been fine when it has come to home time. She will cuddle and wave buy, unlike a few months ago!
She is still the funniest kid I know - the looks she throws me and the adult phrases she comes out with crack me up!
She is 5 in 2 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I forgot to mention, we no longer have a dummy in this house!!
It took me forever to get round to it, but in Feb I had a week off work and planned to take the dummy away. I was expecting explosions, but she went to bed without a mention and has been dummy free ever since :)
Well, my little big girl is now 5!!
Where does the time go, seriously? I remember the day she was born, like it was yesterday. Being told "it's a girl!" and holding my sweet baby for the first time. She was perfect, like a little china doll - her face was so cermetrical and her skin was so soft. It's amazing the feeling that rushes through your body - there is so much love for this little dot, you can't imagine what life was like before she came into it. You would give up everything for her, protect her and hopefully teach her to be the best human being she possibly could be. When people don't "get it", the longing for a child, it is the hardest thing to explain to someone. I always say "if you think you've experienced love, wait until you have your first child - there's no other love like it. It's unexplainable." That's how I feel pretty much everyday.
We had the best weekend (July 5 - 7 2013) - on Friday which was LC's actual birthday, we ended up doing a BBQ. We're experiencing a heat wave here at the moment, so a perfect excuse :) We invited the usual suspects and we had a blast. LC gets on so well with Angela's kids, Maddie and Kelsey - they played out on all her ride on toys for hours. Once everyone had left, LC played out until gone 9pm with her friend Kasia and we ended up "chilling" with her Mum and Dad until 2am! On Saturday, again the kids played out all day and LC's party was at 5pm at a local gymnasium. She had so much fun with Macy, Kasia and lots of her school friends. On Sunday, she played out AGAIN haha (will never be able to keep her in when she's old enough to go further than home) and then Kasia's Dad took them to see Despicable Me 2. So all in all, a very busy weekend :)
We are going camping next week!
I am really mad at myself for not updating this more often! I would love to give all my entries to LC when she is older, so she can see what kind of child she was haha.
I had to update today with two random things that happened. LC is absolutely hilarious so it's hard to get everything blogged for future reference. Anyway, we were messing about the other day after school..... she loves to lay across me and have tickle fights. So she stood up and gasped, then the words that came out made me crease up with laughter! "Mummy!! My nipples have grown, look!!" The pair of us ended up in hysterics, as she got her boobies out to show me hahaha.
This kid, LOVES her Daddy. I never knew how true the 'daddy's girl' saying was until I witnessed it with her and her daddy. It's definitely because as a mother, you're the one who spends the most time with them (what? It's the truth!) and so they like being around someone different lol. Also, her Daddy is definitely the more playful out of the two of us. Anyway, she likes to tell me how beautiful I am and she calls her Daddy "hamson"..... she's usually really good with her words but she just can't get this one down and it's terribly cute haha.
On the flip side of her 'cuteness', she is one sassy little 5 yr old! I would say, we have at least two arguments a day...... yes I know she's 5 but sometimes she can be so smart.... and I don't mean clever.... I mean smart, cheeky that I find it hard not to retaliate. She doesn't curse or anything like that, but she will clench her teeth, pull the nastiest face and grunt like a damn animal! lol. I'm laughing now but at the time, I'm ready to go crazzzzy!
I'm hoping it will pass but I have a feeling it will only get worse as she gets older *gulps*
