She's very excited for Christmas this year. She's actually just as excited to give presents as she is to get them. She has been wrapping little things up in Christmas paper and giving us "gifts" for the last 2 days. She just gave me a little Wisconsin Badgers football all wrapped up.
Rebecca has been having a great time with Daddy home for Christmas and now Grandma & Grandpa are here from Texas. Today I was going to leave for the mall to walk. Dave asked her if she wanted to snuggle in bed with him and watch Playhouse Disney. She said she wanted to go to the mall to walk with me. Dave said, "But don't you want to stay here and snuggle with me?" Rebecca told him, "It's OK, daddy. Grandma will be here to watch you."
Ever since Christmas, Rebecca loves to wrap presents. She asked to wrap presents so I cut up some squares of paper and stuck some pcs of tape to the edge of the table. She is wrapping presents again. She is singing too. "I knew I could count on you, Mommy. I knew I could count on you. I knew I could count on you, girly-girl. I knew I could count on you."
Last week, Grandma and Grandpa Bode bought Amanda and Rebecca twin beds. They are beautiful white finish captains beds with 5 drawers underneath. They have matching blue&green striped comforters too. Rebecca thinks that now that they have twin beds, that she and Amanda are twins.
Yesterday I asked Rebecca for a hug. Without missing a beat she said, "Sure, I saved one for you!"
Yesterday Rebecca turned on the TV. PBS was on and it was showing veterinary surgery. I said, "Ew, let's find something else to watch." I turned it up 1 channel to Univision (Spanish-speaking station). I said, "Do you want to watch TV in Spanish?" She said yes. It was one of those heavy melodramas so as she was intently listening to the 2 ladies and a man having a conversation, she shook her head and said, "Si."
Today Rebecca is wearing UNDIES! Yay, I hope this is the break-through we've been waiting for!
Rebecca always says something to Aaron when we drop him off at school. Usually it's something like "Have a good day!" or "I love you!" Yesterday she told him, "Have fun!" But today she told him, "Don't break anything!"
Yesterday I had the day off and R & I spent the day together so she told me that it was a "Hug Day." Then she said "Hug & Kisses Day." Today it was back to the grind -- I had to work so she had to go to daycare. Just as R was waking up, Amanda heard her say, "Today is a Business Day."
Today I got about ½ way to Aaron’s school and Rebecca said, “Oh NO! I forgot my bear.” I told her it would be OK but she said, “It’s not OK. I can’t sleep without my bear.” And with that she buried her head in her coat. A few minutes later, she said, “Mommy! Cars are going that way. They are going to get my bear.” I told her no they won’t because the house is locked. “Oh yeah, it is locked,” she said. When we got to daycare she was still pretty upset so I told her I knew there was a Blueberry doll from a McDonald’s happy meal in the car. “I don’t like her.” So when I got her out of the carseat, I told her to look around in the car and see if there are any other dolls. She popped up and said, “I found my daddy’s hat!” Then she went down on the floor in the back one more time and said, “I found my HORSE!” It was Strawberry Shortcakes horse that she got for Christmas. She had taken it to daycare a while back and I guess it got left in the car. Thank goodness because it was just the thing she needed to make her happy short of having to go back for her bear. She was so happy when she found that horse. She happily went in to play with her friends and was telling them all about how she forgot her bear but she had her horse today.
Today I took Rebecca to the mall to burn off some energy. It was rainy and chilly most of the day so we really couldn't get outside at all. At the mall we looked around and ended up in Barnes & Noble for a while. She found a Cars coloring book that she wanted. I told her I needed to see how much it costs. She looked at the book and said "Fifty bucks."
On the way out of the mall she said, "I hear my favorite song!" It was really noisy in the mall so I couldn't hear it. I looked around and figured the Pac-Sun store was the closest store to have loud music. We walked over there and sure enough, her favorite song was playing - Check Yes Juliet by We The Kings. As we walked away she started singing it really loud, "RUN BABY RUN! DON'T EVER LOOK BACK!" Then when people around looked at her she got all shy and covered her face. It so cute when she sings the song. The other day she was going poopoo on the potty and she sat in on the toilet singing that song until she finally called out of the bathroom, "I'M DONE!" And she was done.
Today Rebecca is finally acting like she is potty-trained. She is wearing undies and she either tells me before she has to go or she just goes into the bathroom and does it on her own. What a relief. I was beginning to worry she just didn't want to so she wouldn't get it. Finally she gets it and actually wants to do it.
Tonight I gave her a piece of banana bread. Then I told other kids dinner was ready -- chicken-rice salad and banana bread. Next thing we know, there is no banana bread left. I asked A&A if they ate it all and neither had any at all. I asked Rebecca if she took my loaf of banana bread. "Ummmm, I don't know." SO I asked "Where did you put it?" "Under the couch." Sure enough. There was my loaf of banana bread under the couch. Fortunately it was still double wrapped in plastic wrap so it's still good.
