randomness of luke

So, after all of it, i think I've decided to keep this as my place to tell about Luke, other than his blog, of course. And it is ok to comment if you so chose.
I miss him lots when I am at work. It kills me to find out he's doing cute stuff when I'm not there to see it, but work is a neccessity right now. bummer.
He seems to be doing so well. he walks incredibly well, and jabbers up a storm. But he's not really saying any actual words and he seems to have clapping issues. He waves his hands sort of together, but doesn't actually connect in a clap. it's kind of funny. Tim seems to be worried but I'm not. He is doing so well otherwise.
We took him to the doctor Wed. becase he'd had a swollen gland. Doc said it probably was a virus, he's ok now and that I need to stop touching it. lol!
We had a slight mishap yesterday on the changing table. he was too quick for me and I was at an odd angle and he started climbing off the table/dresser!! So I had him by the arms, and yelled for my mom and she came and grabbed him. By that time he was scared and bawling. But he's no worse for the wear. Smile
And boy, does he eat like a pig. He eats everything. Smile
silly boy.

So, tomorow we have a family reunionn on my dad's side. Luckily it's in Cedarburg, so we don't really have to travel for it. I'm pretty excited b/c it'll be the first time that most of them have seen Luke. Plus, i'm really hoping I can talk my Grandma into stopping by our house on her way to Aunt Mary's. She's never seen it and since she's on this side of the state, I may as well ask. we'll see. Smile

Well, this weekend was interesting. Luke cut his hand on something. We're not sure what though. It bled alot but seems to be ok. He does have a large bruise under it. oh well. Had a great time at the reunion, Luke was a star. Smile
It was the first time quite a few of the relatives had seen him. and he was his usual charming self. Except when he needed a nap. lol! Then he was a bit of a nightmare.
Saturday night I went into his room b/c he was ccryign like he was in pain, probably from his hand. and i noticed at that time my hand itched a little. Well, I woke up in the morning and had a rash on my hand and face. I really don't know what it's from either. And it's getting worse. So, that's no good. Now it's going down my arms alittle and acrossed the bridge of my nose. and on my neck. I think I probably should go to the doctor for it. It's very annoying. But niether Luke or Tim has a sign of it, so either I'm allergic to something, or it's stress (which is what Tim thinks).
I'm starting to lean towards the stress theory b/c it showed up after I got into a fight with my 'rents Saturday night and now I"m going up there thursday for the weekend with my Mom's side of the family. Which, to be honest, is going to be very stressful. But I've been more stressed before and never broken out into a rash.
Anyway, such is life.

so, i am going to the doctor today. I made an appt. for 1pm. I was going to make it later and then just not come back to work, but I couldn't take the chance that the doc was running late and I'd be late picking up Luke. So, hopefully something will help. I'm just really hopeing that they don't try and give me a cortisone shot, as I'm dreadful of those b/c of my previous illness and the involvment of cortisone in that.
we'll see! But at least I'm doing something. I look deformed.

taking benedryl at 8:30 pm is not advised. It keeps me up very late. arg.
so I'm very tired today.

Luke had an ok night. he was up a couple times, crying. But he only cried for 10 minutes max.
tonight we're supposed to get together with some local girls and babies. We've had fun with them in the past, so I'm really looking forward to it. It's a tuesday night thing.

Sleep didn't happen so easily last night. There is alot weighing on my mind.
Tim has known for a while that the lab he works at was for sale. Or certain parts were for sale (not too clear on that). Well, they sold it. And now they are eliminating 4 positions in the micro lab alone. They way they are chosing who is getting let go is completely ****ed up though. They are looking at disciplinary issues first (those who've had write ups in the past), then something else, THEN seniority. Tim is worried b/c he has had one write up. Sad Then in the next couple days all the employees have to go and put down what their first 2 choices would be for positions. I guess they are hoping enough people will say "screw this" so that they don't have to actively fire anyone. So, the employees go in, put in their first and second choices. Well, Tim doesn't really feel too qualified for too much, so he might end up giving a 3rd shift job as his second. But anyways, So, then next Wednesday they find out if they still have a job and they get offered a position. If they put down only one choice and they get offered it and reject it, then they do not get severence. If they put down one or 2 choices and do not get the job, then they get severence. But it ends up being only 1 weeks pay for every year they are there. So, basically, next wed. my husband may not have a job.
Then add onto that the fact that I'm going to my parents tonight for a family reunion for my moms side. I need extreme patience in dealing with my cousin b/c she's just so ****ing annoying that I am tempted to hit her. And for craps sake, she's pregnant AGAIN and with her 4th. Not that I have any problem with that, but she (IMO) can't handle the 3 she has.
not going to go itno it any further than to explain that there is some concern for her other 3 b/c she just doesn't adequatly supervise them. Luckily, her husband will be here with her this time so hopefully he will be able to help out. I may talk to him, not sure, just because I really don't want any of those kids to get hurt or stolen.
Then throw on all that the fact that my 84 year old grandma is having hip replacement surgery on Tuesday.
And I have my parents who think the world is about them.

I"m Stressed. with a capital S.

Luke snapped his fingers on Sunday. It was cute and hilarious all at the same time.
If anything, the boy is loved. By everyone. and that is a comfort right now.

I forgot to put that Luke's opthamology appt went very well. The doctor could see the issue we were talking about (his right eye wandering a bit) but it has gotten so much better in the last few months. So, we don't have to do anything now, but we do have to take him back at 3 years old for a follow up. He did so well adn I was really impressed with the doctor. Smile

Last night my friend Nikki and I went to this mexican restaurant called Hectors. Because Tim is on 2nd shift right now, I took Luke with. Well, it was raining so we get to hectors, and I put him on a chair to take off his raincoat and he takes a step backwards and falls off the chair. I heard his little head thunk on the ground. It was horrible!! But he had a good cry and was all right after that. he kept sweeping the puffs and rice I gave him away so I ended up spoon feeding him, which I hate doing b/c he knows how to feed himself. But he had a good time once he got over the whole shock of the fall. And b/c our power was out at home I couldn't get our car out of the garage. So, we had to go in Nikki's car and her carseat is forward facing. Bad mommy moment, but I let him go in it. He was ok and it wasn't that far. The only thing that made me nervous was the bad weather, but it all worked out. He slept like a rock too! yay!

Luke's top right middle tooth finally came through! whew! now we're waiting for the top right eye tooth. Hopefully that one will be ok. Try as I might, I can not get a picture of it though.
Luke really likes to sit down and look through his books:

it's really cute.
he is still doing the standing on the head thing, I caught him with one leg up in the air

Sky's (our babysitter) mother in law is leaving tomorow to go back to Mexico. She loves Luke so much it's so cute. I think he'll miss her alot,

Our dog, Sam, has been extremely patient with him. She will sit and let him pat (pound) her. the only thing I'm being very careful on is him pulling her tail. She turns when he does it, but I am sure she wouldn't bite. But, you can never be too careful.

so, the terribly tot pulled a bowl off a shelf today. I didn't even realize he could reach it enough to actually get something off. He must have really been workign at it. And I hate to say it, but I wonder if tim had fallen asleep while he was playing again. I'm not sure what to do about it other than maybe get one of those playyards and keep him in that so he really can't get at the tv or shelfs or couches or dog. and if we get one as big as clare has, it would be plenty big for him. and tim wouldn't have to worry so much.
*sigh*
I just hope tim vaccuumed the carpet so that I don't have to worry about it. I suppose I'll find out when I get home. I'll see if the vaccuum has been moved from the side of the bed (the last place he vaccuumed) because god forbid he actually put it away. He actually leaves the flippin' thing plugged in. arg. sorry, vent there.
anyways, I'm just hoping he vaccummed b/c if he didn't I'm going to have to put Luke in his crib and do it and he hates that. of course, that's probably why tim wouldn't have.

so I ended up stopping home on my way to pick up Luke b/c I figured that way Skys MIL would get a little more time with him and also to check if Tim vaccuumed. which, of course he didn't. So I got a little carried away and vacuumed our bedroom as well and moved it around a little (which I don't like, so now have to reaarange again). and then vaccuumed downstairs. But I went to pick him up and we gave her her present and she loved it. Smile

got a gorgeous bracelet from Ivy

and found one of Luke's baby hats in our bedroom. *sniff*

last night we went to choir, and everyone loved on him, as usual. He toddled along the hallway and was all shy. Then we got hom and I had to change him b/c he'd pooped. He threw a holy fit whie I was changing him. But we rocked for a few minutes and all was well.
and he slept until just about 8! yay for that!

we started off the day by having a breakfast of cheese and grapes.

then mommy tried to get his 12 month (1 year) shot on the couch but Master Luke wasn't cooperating very well

then we did a bit of toodling around and came home and took a nice long nap.
After which we went to the zoo with Grandma and Grandpa
Where he rode the carousel with Grandma

he wasn't quite sure of the whole thing. lol!
Grandma was reading all about some animal, don't remember what

Then we had to take a picture with Mommy

then we went and saw the Giraffes

and watched them getting fed

then mommy tried desperatly to get a picture of Luke with the Kangaroos but they weren't cooperating

then we looked at a big brown bear

then since we'd gone to the zoo to see the Koala's but the disply closed 2 days ago, I took a pic by the sign. loL!

and a pic by the Butterfly Garden

then we went home and tried desperately to get a good pic with his birthday shirt and crown, but cooperation wasn't happening

then we went to Stonefire where we played and ate

by the water table

and the railroad area

and with the blocks

and then did some face painting, where I got my first goosey egg on my head when I bent down and wacked it

if you look about his right eye you can see the lump

grandma holding ice on Luke's head

playing where Luke hit his head AGAIN

and just being cute

we went for a walk after work and when we got home Luke turned around and crawled out of his stroller all on his own. Smile He was a nightmare to get to bed last night though. He was asleep in my arms, SNORING, and then I set him in his crib and he was up crying. same thing with tim, who tried after me. we had to let him CIO. and then he was up a couple times after, but went back to sleep in a couple minutes.
oye.

Luke's stats

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We had Luke's 1 year appt. today. Boy, was that fun (insert sarcasm here)
As of today, the Boy is 32 inches long (95th percentile) and 23 lbs. 2 oz. (just over the 50th). So, as we already knew, he's a long, lean drooling machine!!
He had 3 shots at the end, not so fun, but he cried, and then played mighty hard when we got home. We will be starting to include Whole Milk into his diet, we'll start by mixing it with formula and phasing that out. Once this is done, we'll ditch the bottles, going solely to sippy cup.
He will get tested for anemia and lead levels, we just need to take him to the lab.
We learned the fine art of the "time out" which we will probably start using very soon as our child is a biter. Yes, a biter. She told us what to do, which is basically what we learned on Supernanny, I just didn't realize he'd be able to comprehend this young, but apparently, he can. It will be a learning process, but he will learn.
And they gave us a recommendation for a pediatric dentist, which we may take them up on b/c this office gives free first exams to babies.
So, that's the scoop on the little poop(er).

Oh no, I hope the time-outs help with the biting. I am sure he'll figure it out! He is such a cutie, btw. I know I say that every time you post pictures, but he really is! Biggrin I love the picture of him and his dad passed out on the couch together! Lol Like father like son!! And you guys look adorable in your siggy pic!! Thanks for your note in my journal, too... you're so sweet to think of me! Biggrin

aw thanks! I love that picture of Tim & I. It was taken last month.
Luke got his blood taken yesterday. According to tim, it's a good thing I wasn't there. He screamed his bloody head off. But the blood drawer lady gave him a graham cracker after adn that made everything better. But from the way tim was describing it, I'm so glad I wasn't there!! Sad

far be it for me to curse about my little bundle of joy. But yesterday I just about ****ing killed him. we're at church. we went during the sunday school hour bc there was a presentation on the recent mission trip to Tanzania. So, in order for both of us to enjoy it we put him in the nursery, with the intent of leaving him in there during the church service, as we usually do. So, mid-way through the presentation I had to go to choir for a pre-service type rehearsal. after that I couldn't find tim, so I headed down to the nursery to see if he went down there. I didn't even let Luke see me but I could hear him wailing. So I went in and got him and told him he had to be quiet and he could sit with us up in church. about 10 minutes into the service I took him downstairs (via the door right by our seats) and he proceeded to scream and throw a fit for 45 minutes. NO idea why. I picked him up, put him down gave him his sippy, nothing worked. Then right when he got calmed down enough to go back into church I walked back up the stairs and got to the door and heard the choir start. so, no singing for me. So I went back down the stairs b/c he starrted wimpering again, and after the choir finished I went back in and he was just quiet and just laying on me. I felt bad for him but I was so frustrated. I don't know what his issue was. oh well.
Saturday we went to a birthday party at a hotel, and tim took him swimming, he really enjoyed it.

I believe he had a virus. He wwould be playing and just lay down. poor guy. So we kept him home from daycare the rest of the week. he's had diarreah, but I honestly think that part of the whole thing may be because he's getting molars. there is one little tip poking through. I can not wait until the rest makes it's way down. what a scream fest that will be.
I'm really worried about him at sky's. She came over last night for a little while and she was so tired. and she didn't even have him the last 3 days. So, really, how is she going to be able to adequatly take care of him if she's that tired. we'll see. it's funny too b/c our neighbor, Tabitha, was thinking about him and how sky's going to do it as well.
arg. All I can do is wait and see, but I don't want to wait and see and have somethig happen to him. But, in Nov. he goes back to part time. so, that will ease my mind a little.

Took Luke to Buffalo Wild Wings last nigth for a going away thing for one of tim's co-workers. The restaurant side was fairly empty so I let him run around for a little while. But towards the end he was getting tired and cranky. but boy, did he flirt with the waitress! He's going to charm the heart of some little girl some day!! Tim's working 2nd shift tonight so it'll just be me and Luke tonight. I'm so tempted just to snuggle with him in our bed. But I know that would set such a bad example for him. Bc then he'll want that and nope, sorry buddy, not gonna happen. But there is nothing sweeter than watching him sleep. Smile

Some days, I swear I'd let you keep him! lol! The teething thing is so unpredictable, he has molars coming in on top. 2 have poked their way through, but only partly. So, working on that. I may buy stock in Tylenol!
We went to the Brookfield Zoo yesterday and met up with some other PO moms. It was a great time. Pics on the '06 sept. board.

Luke is doing a bit better. He was a bit whiny and clingy this morning, but seemed ok when I dropped him off. I hate that I have to work and I really really want to move to a smaller town. small small town.
