*Get to know you* Check-in Thread (~Month of June~)

*Edited: Since it's Summer and the boards are much slower now, I changed this to a monthly check-in. "Challenges this week" and "Positives this week" were changed to, "Challenges/Positives this month," but if you have already answered prior to the change, feel free to edit your post and add additional notes.* Smile

Age: DH/SO Age: Trevor/28

How long ttc: 18 months

Actively trying/Waiting/JLIH/Other: well, I've screwed up my back pretty bad so now I might have surgery. So I guess we would be waiting.

If trying, where are you in your cycle? I think I may have o'd on CD 16, but a part of me thinks I didn't.

Occupation/business/volunteer work: DH and I pastor and I'm a teacher as well.

DH/SO Occupation/business: Pastor and carpenter

Hobbies: Singing, playing piano, sewing, photography, party planning

Challenges this month: My back has gotten so bad that I can barely walk or sit. I probably have to have a spinal fusion and I'm really bummed that we have to put TTC on hold. Especially since here in Canada the wait is so long who knows when I'll actually see the neurosurgeon.

Positives this month: I finally got some medication that is helping with the pain. Thank God! And my MRI miraculously got moved up by three months, which according to my dr. Never happens.

New hobby or activity you've thought about trying, if any: photography is pretty new for me. I'm really excited about getting better at it. I am thinking about writing music again, which I haven't done in seven years.

Elizabeth, so sorry again about your back. How wonderful that they finally found a medication that could help with the pain AND that the MRI got moved up! :bigarmhug:

How neat about writing music Smile

Name or Nickname: Emily

Age: 27 DH/SO Age: 35

How long ttc: Not currently TTC. Did TTC #2 for a year (11 cycles), with 2 m/c before that.

Actively trying/Waiting/JLIH/Other: Waiting for now.

If trying, where are you in your cycle? Waiting for that first PP AF to show up. Thinking it will be any day now.

Occupation/business/volunteer work: Registered Nurse on a busy post-surgical unit at a local hospital. Volunteering with a high school youth group. Helped with a camp for middle schoolers through the same organization. That was fun! DD1 asked one of the kids how old she was, and girl replied with "12". DD1 said, "Oh. I'll be 12 in a few years!" (She's 4.)

DH/SO Occupation/business: Computers.. Don't ask me exactly what he does. I'm not sure! ROFL

Hobbies:

Challenges this month: Been pretty busy at work. DD2 has had some minor health issues but all seem to have been caught early and she's doing fine.

Positives this month: DD1 finally seems to be out of the terrible 2s/3s (which lasted from 2 1/2 to 4 1/2, lol) and is a reasonable human being most of the time. DD2 is growing and developing more of a personality.

New hobby or activity you've thought about trying, if any: I don't know, but I want to get more active. Join a sand volleyball team, start running in the mornings, SOMEthing. I don't have very many healthy habits, and that needs to change.

Pardon my nosiness, but what medication is helping now? (I work on an ortho/neuro unit and love soaking up as much info as I can) Yay for the MRI being moved up!

Thanks, Mary! I have been away for a while, but I do want to post a bit more regularly again. That way when we're ttc again (whenever that may be), people might know who I am when I'm bombarding the board with random worries and EWCM updates! :biglaugh:

Haha... I don't think that's nosy at all. Smile it's Lyrica. I'm also taking arthrotec. But I think it's the Lyrica that's making a difference since no other NSAID has helped. My SIL actually suggested it because she's a kinesiologist and alot of her spinal injury patients are on it and say it helps. I've been on it five days now. Last week I couldn't walk and yesterday I was playing a very mild game of tennis. (I wasn't running around like a crazy person... Lol)
