Default Blood Test Question! (M/C Mentioned)

Hi! I was just wondering if after a M/C if theres a time limit to get a blood test? For example, I'm pretty sure I started to M/C about two days ago, but I know I wont be able to see a doctor until next week. I really want her to do a blood test to check my progesterone levels because I've been convinced I've had low progesterone for a while now, and wondering if that might also be a cause of M/C ... If so, I want to be prepared for next time, maybe get some type of progesterone cream/supplment before I TTC again. If they do a blood test next week, would it have been to long after my M/C to get any accurate answers about low progesterone? Or is there a normal amount even non-pregnant blood should have in it?! Do I even make sense?! haha Thanks!!

Cait, your OB will probably want to check your betas anyway just to make sure your levels are going down. You don't have to be pregnant to have your progesterone checked. Your OB will probably check it after you O and if it's low, she'll probably prescribe progesterone supplements for you.

I'm still holding out hope for a positive outcome for you, though!!!

I'm not sure about the progesterone, but wanted to say I'm so sorry that it looks like you might be m/c!

HM!!!! So do you think it'd be better to wait until AFTER I O to get a blood test? Considering I dont have insurance so I'd have to pay out of pocket, then I'd get one blood test Vs. 2?? Or do you think its just worth it to get both?? I KNOW theres no pregnancy left in me (well maybe a smidge of HGC but I definately have a - on the HPTS now so I'm not really worried about getting a blood test or hoping that there's still a chance of being preg) Decisions decisions!!!

Hi Cait, my Dr wanted to check my progesterone levels after my m/c, I am not sure why. But they had me go in on day 21 of my cycle after I had ovulated. I am sure that every Dr is different as are the reasons for checking so I would call ASAP so you don't have to wait another cycle.

So sorry about the m/c. I would ask your doctor. Mine didn't do a progesterone test (said it wasn't necessary) and I was (and still am) pretty peeved about that.

Cait, have you started AF yet? I would just make an appointment to see her as you as possible and ask her for a progesterone test. Hopefully she'll just hand you a lab slip for the progesterone test and you can just go to the lab 7 dpo for the blood work. Hopefully, the nurse will call you with the results and call in a prescription for supplements IF you need them and you won't have to go in for another doctor's visit. I would just ask your doctor and try to work something out so she won't have to come in more than absolutely necessary to save money. Good luck and KUP!!

    Hi!
Yes I started spotting Thurs kinda.. then more Friday... then the heaviest ever sat, sun, today... So I'm not really worried about having to get a D&C or anything... My hpts are even back to negative... Like it never even happened...

Yeah I think I'll call today.. I just can't bring myself to call... I feel like as soon as I say "umm.. im not pregnant anymore" I'll start to sob and just hangup... I know it's too late for them to do anything about it now...

I'm just scared that it IS the progesterone, and then If I DO get preg again, it wont stick, and I just cant keep going through that! But I dont awnt to go in too early... and them not know, or not find out, idk, sigh.. so frusterating...

I think I'l call... tomorrow... it's snowy here so I dont want to go out today/tomorrow anyways... Maybe she'll have me come in after I stop bleeding...

I applied for insurance through the state when I found out I was preg, but IDK if I'll get accepted because even though were not married Kevin makes too much money.. Its so dumb that I cant get on his insurance because were not married, but that I'm penalized from getting my own because were together... If I ended up getting accepted I wonder if it might even cover me to go get my pap.. that'd be nice!

Each state is probably different, but here if you were not married, it would only go by your income, not what your boyfriend would make.
