Completely OT, about a car accident I saw:

I was driving home from work and just turned onto the street I take to get to my street and saw a horrible accident. It had just happened, people were getting out of their cars and rushing over. I had to slow down to get past some of the people in the road, but got an unfortunate very good look at the accident as I passed

I went home, parked and walked back to ask some questions since I'm still kind of new to this neighbourhood. A man who lives on that street said he was sitting on his front porch and saw this man speed past his house several time back and forth 4-5 times. He said that the man had to have been going close to 90 km/h, and since this is a residential area, all of the speed limits are 40-50 km/h. Apparently he blew the stop sign several times as he passed by, almost hitting another car going through the intersection once. On the last rip down the street, he lost control around the intersection that had the stop sign and crashed straight into a tree. He had to have been going pretty fast, because I was in a head on collision back in Feb (not my fault), I was doing 30, the other car was doing 50, my car was totalled, but I walked away from it. They had to cut this man out of the car. I didn't stick around to watch because what I saw on my way home was disturbing enough. I'm not sure if I want to know what happened, but the firefighters on the scene said he was still breathing when I was there.

It's scary, because there are a lot of families with young children in this neighbourhood. Imagine he hit somebody? You'd be lucky to live being hit at those speeds!

A weird side note, the first police officer on the scene was the officer who gave me my first and only ticket. That might not be weird if you live in a small town, but I live in a city that probably has 1000+. He looked familiar, but as soon as he spoke I knew it was him, very distinctive Irish accent.

Wow, that is just crazy...I can't imagine what that guy thought he was doing! Trying to kill himself!?! Sorry you saw it, that would really disturb me I'm sure. I do hope the crazy fellow is ok though.

    Congratulations Sandy.

Jessica, my cycle is still all a little hard to read at the moment too, but I've already had a complete cycle since the m/c. FF keeps changing my O dates. As for the driver, unfortunately some people don't seem to think road rules apply to them. In my work we see it all the time. And if they get caught it is always someone else's fault or they have some excuse ready that they think excuses it. Personally, I don't think (as an example) an argument with your partner or a bad day at work warrants driving recklessly and the possible loss of someone else's life.

Pic083 (sorry, I don't know your name), my first post m/c AF is usually a little different but goes back to normal in a cycle or two.

I had a close friend announce her pregnancy today. The second in my close group in the past month and the third this year (third was right after my earlier m/c). This one hurt the most for some reason. I thought I would have handled it better but I really didn't.

    Congrats, sandy.

AFM: it turned out a little more normal. I had the 3 days of bleeding, spotted on CD4, had nothing CD4 or most of CD5 then spotted from 8pm CD5 until CD6 afternoon. Weird, but not terribly weird.
I haven't heard too many pregnancy announcements, but there were two new baby announcements within a week of my m/c. I thought I could handle it better, too. I have been meeting a lot of new people recently (new school year and all) and a lot of them are pregnant. I'm ready to join in again, too. I just hope my body gets the memo.

I'm kind of thinking that. To describe the street that the accident happened on, it's about 1 km long with one stop sign about 1/3 km away from a busy street. The other end of the street leads to a sharp right, no stop. There's about a 3 foot strip of grass separating the sidewalk from the road, and the tree he crashed into happens to be the ONLY tree along this 1 km stretch that grows in that 3 foot strip, which also happens to be in that 1/3 km area past the stop sign. All of the other trees are up on people's lawns. The tree is also enormous, easily 100 years old, and big enough around that DH and I can't touch hands around it. Why else would a guy be tearing up a residential street at such speeds, and going back and forth at that? He would have had to have blown the stop sign to hit the tree like that, he wouldn't have been able to reach a speed like that in the distance from the intersection to the tree.

I read in the news that the man died before the emergency crew could even get him out of the car. I've found that I'm more bothered than I thought I'd be about the whole thing. I mean.. I drove by , eating a sandwich, right after the accident happened, before any police or firefighters arrives, a saw the man trapped in his car. I was a stupid rubbernecker, and even went as far as coming back to find out more. That man probably died while I was standing around with other bystanders chatting about what might have happened.

Sorry I'm being so whiny about this. I've seen a handful of car accidents, drove by probably hundreds, but I've never been so close to one that ended in fatality.

Although I have many routes in and out of my neighbourhood, I always go this way for some reason... I wonder if avoiding it for a while will help, or if I should just keep traveling the same route hoping that I'll get over it? I just feel like a jerk...

I'm sorry you're feeling this way Jessica. Also sorry to hear how it ended up. I do not think you should feel like a jerk though, you are so shook up by it b/c you are obviously someone who is caring. This guy was doing something really dumb that cost him his life...thankfully no one else was hurt. I do hate that he made such poor choices and/or felt he needed to take such drastic measures to deal with whatever was going on in his life, if that was the case. Very sad, either way.

I hope you feel better soon and are able to put it behind you. Something like that would really shake me up too.

Jess, I just took a look at your chart! Looks like you O'd and some pretty good BD timing too, assuming there was no prevention. How are you feeling? Do you think you O'd? It does look like a pretty consistent rise pattern and no up/down so FF is probably right, I would think.

Thanks Lynn, I suppose I might be feeling a little "survivor guilt" right now. When I got in an accident early this year, we were so lucky that we weren't injured, we both just opened our doors, shook ourselves off and walked away. Everyone who saw photos of the accident said they were amazed that we were fine. I had a little friction burn on my left hip, and that was it.

I put an overlay chart on my FF homepage, check it out!

Honestly, I wasn't expecting to O at all, so I'm super surprised. When I looked at my chart after I put my temp in this morning it had solid crosshairs, but now it has dotted.. I wonder why it changed when the information hasn't? The BDing was just random and unprotected, so who knows what will happen. I took a HPT this morning, finally negative, and I go for another blood draw today. As long as my LP hasn't changed, I should get AF next Saturday.

What are the risks of getting pregnant before the first AF post m/c? I doubt that'll be the case, but just curious. If I get AF next Saturday, I should O again somewhere between Nov 21-25. So freakin' excited to get back to TTC!
