PG after a loss support thread. (PG ment, pg signatures)

I am going to start a thread for all things pregnant after a loss related. This can be a place where you can ask questions, vent, share your joy or whatever. This will help keep the front page free of pg related posts so that people who are still raw from their loss can still feel free to post here.

Thank you so much for starting this thread Alyssa!

Thanks Bonita! This is great

Mary - glad you found our new thread. I considered starting one in our sept group but I think this is a better place. How are you doing? You are almost 6 wks now right? When do you see your DR again.

AFM - Beta this am, waiting on results.

Danielle I am excited to hear your results!
I feel pretty ok a little less anxious which is good! I think I am 6 weeks today, I thought about starting a thread in Sept. too but thought this was a better place too Smile I actually have my first visit tomorrow morning! From what I hear they do an ultrasound at every visit. I am going to forego those later on but I hope that its true and I get one tomorrow to calm my fears!!

YAH on first your first visit and hopefully u/s Yahoo

My beta results are in:

progesterone 72 (I am on progesterone support)
hcg 154

All looks good at 14 dpo Smile I'm seeing a RE specialist for fertility so I have an U/S every visit except labwork days. As for now, they will do bloodwork every few days until my hcg hits 1500 then they will do an u/s to check for ectopic, multiples etc.

I am elated as last time my first HCG was in the 30's and they were really concerned about how low. I needed some good news Smile

Let me know how your appt goes!

Mary - Hope your appointment goes well this morning!!

Danielle - That is a great number for 14dpo. I hope mine comes back that high.

AFM- I go back for beta #2 this afternoon and will have the results tomorrow. Beta #1 from Monday was 44 at ~12dpo. They said once I hit 1500-2000 I will get an u/s to hopefully see a little bean.

my update...Monday beta hcg was 152, Weds. beta hcg was 273....not quite doubled but going in the right direction. My doc thinks i'm just way earlier than i think and that everything is ok. She wants me to wait 3 weeks and then we'll re-check and do an ultrasound. I sure hope i can finally rest easy a little now. I've never had a tubal pregnancy and only 1 m/c that was entirely chemical since i lost it so early on and barely had any hcg in my system....so really....i need to stop worrying huh?

Mandy my fingers are crossed so tightly for you!!!

RL- that is great news that they have gone up! If you can stop worrying stop Smile I know its hard though!! Hopefully 3 weeks flies by for you!!

as for me, my appointment went ok. As usual my babies develop so slowly at first so even though I am six weeks baby looked more 5w4d and no heart beat. That was tough for me but only because now I will worry till my next visit. He is willing to see me in two weeks so I go in again on the 26th. That seems like forever!! I did really like him though, he said no one in the state of Utah will touch me for a vba3c so looks like were doing a repeat. He said because of my history and large babies no one would do it. But I am ok with that, I just want to hold my baby in the end so I am ok with that. Didn't hurt to ask though right! Thats pretty much it! Now just more waiting!!

HOpe you guys are all doing great today!!!

Mary - Sorry you didn't get to see the heartbeat, but if your little beans normally start slow you should just relax and wait it out! I'll be sending good :vibes: your way

RL - Good to see your numbers increasing. Please try not to stress! Sending more good :vibes: your way

Mandy - Everything is crossed! Can't wait to see your results.

The number won't necessarily double, I remember my obgyn saying that a 78% increase (I think is what he said? Or something close to that percentage?) was what they were looking for. So I'm sure you're okay. Try to relax now and take it one day at a time... which I know is easier said than done! I hope the 3 wks flies by, too!

I agree with Danielle, if it's normal for your lil beans to grow slower, then I wouldn't worry. It is not uncommon at all to not see a HB this early anyway. Hang in there!

Arrggghhhhh!!! I just missed the call from the nurse about my second beta. They called my work phone instead of my cell phone which I have been carrying around with me all day everywhere I go. Then right when I am about to call them back my boss comes up to me and decides to vent for 10 minutes (but it felt like forever). So now I have just finally called them back and left a message and of course it is lunch time. This wait it driving me nuts!!!

It is confirmed. I AM PREGGO!!!! Yay!!! My number went from 44 to 121!!! I am so super excited!!! And I have an ultrasound on January 25th to see the heartbeat!!

But with all that said, I am also super nervous about all of this. I just don't want to be disappointed like I was before. But I am going to take my chances and mark up my calendar will all the milestones. I just don't want to not give this baby the attention that is deserves just because of my fears.

Mandy - I saw your second Beta results YAH!!!

AFM - Went in for my 2nd Beta today. Got there extra early to make sure I was first to get to work in time for a meeting. The tech walked in at 10 after and didn't come get me for another 5 minutes. GRRRRR. Then they told me I won't get results till tomorrow. Really? You require me come into your office in the morning and you're not going to give me results till Monday? I could have gone to Labcorp and been out in 15 minutes.

Just grumpy this morning and don't want to wait Smile

Oh no Danielle, that stinks that you won't get your results until tomorrow. Not to frustrate you even more but my sister works in a hospital lab and said that hCG is one of the easiest fastest tests to run and that you could definitely have results in a few hours. But of course that depends on their work load. Maybe if you call and bug them enough they will run yours first. Good luck and sorry you have to wait.

As a random thing that i know you guys would understand....my 41 week pregnant friend keeps complaining to me about how miserable she is. I know you are miserable....i've never been 41 weeks pregnant but you chose to go au naturale so deal with it. And stop b*tching at me...your friend, that JUST had a miscarriage and is now only 6 weeks pregnant and terrified of losing another baby. I mean really. It got annoying so i told her that at least she knows her baby is alive.

Thanks guys, more numbers to come tomorrow. With the weekend between testing and results it feels like back to back testing. If my growth rate in my HCG stays the same they should schedule my U/S. However, I really have had no pg symptoms other than bloating the past two days. I did this last time until about 6 weeks when I got really sick around smells but it is a little unnerving!

RL - I understand how hard in general dealing with pg friends are after a m/c with a number of my close friends with recent births or pg. I think in general it is easy for people to get self absorbed and not think about how their comments impact others. I try to approach it this way - I can only control my response, I can't control others. If you have never had a m/c you do not have any idea what an individual goes through or how hurtful these things can be. I try to believe in my heart no hurt is meant and be happy for them and encourage them to be happy for themselves. If the situation is one I can't do that, I walk away until I can better talk to them.

So so sorry :bigarmhug:

Sounds like something I did the other day. I told someone that was complaining about being pregnant that I don't think I'd complain one instance if I knew mine would come out healthy one day. (Granted, I probably would complain, but seeing as I haven't had the chance and she was really irritating me...I just said what I was thinking.)

Well, looks like next week is going to be U/S week, I am now scheduled for Monday.

Last beta at 21 dpo was 3977....looking good so far but I think on high end.

Wow Danielle, that number is huge. Definitely greater than 1500. That is so exciting that you get to have your u/s on Monday. I was told I could have mine any time after January 21st but the only time they could get me in for a nurse appointment and an u/s back to back was on Wednesday. So I am completely jealous that you only have to wait until Monday.

Mandy - sorry you have to wait till Wednesday. My office is really good about short term appts. I never had problems getting in when I was starting my fertility cycles etc. I think it's the nature of fertility treatments they have to do short term scheduling. I was actually kind of sad I couldn't get in this week but I have so much going on it's probably best. Actually I'll be 5 wk 6 days based on my IUI date so I'm hoping to see a HB which I probably wouldn't have seen if I went in this week!

Mary/RL how are you two doing? When's everyone's next appt?

When should you see a heartbeat on an u/s? I have read a thousand different things on the internet. But it seemed like from what my doctor said was that when my numbers got above ~1500-2000 they should be able to see something and hopefully a heartbeat. My u/s will be when I am exactly 6 weeks (by my calculations) and I just have no idea what I should see then. Besides the m/c the earliest I had an u/s was 20 weeks.

My RE says by sometime in wk 6. I think some people see them during wk 5. Some of it may depend on location/ability to see the bean.

Hey Danielle, I was just reading your posts from a while ago about playing tennis. Obviously your situation is different and you have to do what is comfortable for you, but my mom was a tennis instruction back in the day and actually taught a lesson the morning I was born. She even taught her ob/gyn lessons and she said he hit the ball extremely hard, so hard that she was afraid of what would happen if he hit her. She asked him and he said the only thing that would happen would she would get a bruise, nothing would happen to the baby (me). Again I know your situation is different with your back pain, but just know that if you are up to it you can play tennis up through your second and third trimester even.

RL- I knowwww what you mean!! My friend got pregnant her second try and has been nonstop complaining about it all the time. Add in the fact that I said "It sure is going fast" and she says "not really!" and I'm thinking well I guess each month I get a BFN she gets 4 weeks farther along so yeah.. pretty fast to me... When I told her I was preg (one of the FEW people I told) she said "Oh I'm glad things are working out for you"... umm sounds real supportive... Then jumps in about me planning her babyshower.. sigh!!!
I think some people just don't get it or appreciate it unless they had to try so hard like us!
I haven't even told her I M/C in fear that she'd say "oh it wasnt meant to be"
I think shes just a little.. idk.. not jealous.. but.... doesn't want me to get pregnant.. I think she was banking on getting all of my baby stuff.. plus me helping taking care of her baby... And she has a really small house with no room for a baby and she lost her job and is broke and cant buy stuff for the baby... so when we talk about things I feel like somehow she wants me to suffer just because I planned things out better.... I'm trying to just hope it's preg hormones and she'll get over it... I just cant stand the rudeness when we were really really close before.

Mandy - a little background. 2 weeks before my last m/c I ended up in the ER with hemmoraghic ovarian cysts. I actually thought I was having a very painful miscarriage. I ended up having to have laproscopy and had the 3 cysts removed - they were the residual follicles from my IUI series. They were all full of blood clots and were bleeding into my abdomen. This all started with back pain. I actively played tennis until that happened in early November then of course after surgery I was out for 6+ weeks. I had just re-started playing when we found out we were Pg again. The next time I played I had that same back pain feeling again. I only have stopped as I am extremely nervous about a repeat....I really am not up for surgery again and I don't want to take the risk right now.

My DH's mom played up until she delivered with both of her boys....I know it's normal. My RE said what happened is unlikely to ever happen again but I just can't risk it.
