    Default Question

Has anyone used progesterone suppositories? After last pregnancy, I was in injectable progesterone as my levels had dropped rapidly a few weeks in. My RE sent in a prescription to start tomorrow proactively after my IUI Tuesday. I've never used these before and I made the mistake of having the DH pick them up and he had to listen to the old gentleman at the pharmacy describe how to insert and manage. He didn't listen very well and told me to read the instructions when I got home as he couldn't take anymore. I reminded him I've had weekly or bi-weekly vaginal ultrasounds for nearly 6 months that he can pick up prescriptions no matter how uncomfortable. Anyway, any suggestions for the 2x/day use? We are traveling this weekend with friends and carrying my ice chest between hotels to keep them cold is going to be fun...Are they really messy?

It sounds like your RE prescribed progesterone suppositories that has to be refrigerated. That's the kind I'm on too. Just keep them cool so that stay solid and just insert them when it's time. Oh and you're going to want to wear panty liners because they leak! They *will* ruin your clothes so be sure that you don't forget. I only have to take them once a day at night so I just insert one just before bed so it hasn't been so bad. I kind of miss the Crinone gel because they didn't leak at all and they came individually wrapped with applicators and didn't have to be refrigerated at all. I might ask my RE if I can go back to those again. Though, Crinone was kind of gross too because of the buildup.

Thanks for the warnings Jina on the liners and the clothing. I am a little nervous about leaking, but we do what we've got to do. I am on vacation and will be traipsing around New Orleans with friends. I will make sure I pack appropriately!

He prescribed 2x a day so I guess I will see how tomorrow goes and adjust timing as I can.

I was on those with my last angel. I hated it but I know it played a part in the embryo's success into a fetus. Good luck, DannyT.
