Short Luteal Phase?
I've noticed that since I had dd my Luteal phase ranges from 8 days to 10 at the longest.
I remember a couple ladies mentioning short Luteal phase before.
Does anyone know of any natural supplements that help lengthen it?
The only thing I can find on it is to take B6.
I've heard that Vitex and Maca can lengthen you LP.
I'd do a lot of research on Vitex, though. I've heard/read some unfavorable things about it, like mid-cycle spotting and cramping. It also produces progesterone and since you have to stop taking it after you get pregnant, it could be bad to just stop taking it right away. I think you'd have to wean off of it....it just doesn't sound very appealing. I took it for a few weeks and it gave me cramps so I stopped taking it.
Maca on the other hand might be a better bet. I've heard nothing but good things about it and I've read that it could give you a longer LP.
Just B6 which for me increased it from 8 days to 10 days. I've tried vitex but I'm one of those that it made my cycle worse with lots of spotting.
Maybe also eating a healthier diet? I was able to increase mine luteal phase to 14 days (spotting starting at 12 DPO) with diet and acupuncture.
There is a natural progesterone cream that can help too. I use Emerita brand, you have to be really sure on when you O though. I wouldn't recommend it without temping and being able to tell for sure. If you start the cream too early, you can stop the release of the egg.
I use Maca, though I didn't realize it's also good for lengthening the LP. Makes sense, though, based on what I've read about it (that it will increase your progesterone levels). If you decide to try it, just be sure to stop taking it every month during AF (at the first sign of light 'flow').
Thanks, girls. :) I'm stopping in with DH to see our Doctor tomorrow afternoon, so I'm going to come armed with this information and get his approval. I knew you ladies would know what to do. :)
