Lol baby is very active tonight, been getting some very big kicks......lots of belly movement going on i love it!!!
Baby shower invites went out, i decided against the ones below as found an even cheper alternative....in fact they were free!! Printed them off the internet, typed them up and photocopied them at work! Got to work really hard at cutting back the spending now and get ready for maternity leave.
Had my routine midwife appointment today, all went well and normal .
I decided i would like a 3d/4d scan after all. Lol i knew i would!! I know if i dont i will regret it! Bf doesnt want to come, he isnt keen on these 4d scans which is fine, i dont want him to do anything he isnt comfortable with. He is very happy for me to get it done so im going to take my mum and sister as i know they will love it! Its all booked for 29th Aug at 2.50pm.
Then we have the baby shower in September, and our holiday, and then im hoping to drag bf along to the baby show in October!!
Next week i am classing it as the thirds trimester - i feel like we have got so much to look forward to during this, all the fun stuff really starts!!!
I'll start with the eventful evening i had last night!!
I went to bed last night at around 12.30am and i had mild stitch-like pain just under the centre of my ribs, probably over where the top of where my uterus is measuring. It was bearable though and i thought its probably just from where my dinner was still stuck there.
I then woke up at 1.39am and the pain was worse, like my skin and muscle was going to split open if i stretched out. Also very tender to palpate. I got up to try and have a walk around, it didnt really help and it hurt when i breathed from where my lungs were expanding.
I was real paranoid so checked baby witht the doppler, good hb. I then went back to bed and managed to sleep again (albeit very reslessly!).
I woke up again at 4.20am to find the pain was still there, i got up but it actually had me i tears this time so i woke bf.
To start off with the pain was like a constant pain, but it worried the hell out of me even more as at this point whilst it was still constant it was also intensifying in waves then easing off every few mins. I was pretty sure it wasnt contractions as the pain was still too high up, over where my diaphragm is. I rang the emergency midwife and she said to come straight down.
Me and bf left the house at around 5.30am. They were so lovely when we got there, the midwife who greeted us and looked after me was so so nice, i hope she will be my midwife!
She strapped me up to the fetal hr monitor and some other thingy that measures to see if it was contractions. Baby's hr was good, at around 150's. Dont think it liked that monitor though as at one point it went mad, really kicking at it and hr went up to 180's!!! No contractions were picked up so that was very reassuring.
The doctor turned up after finishing a c-section and and had a feel of my belly (that really hurt!) and then done an internal. My cervix was closed and she took a swab to check for group B strep whilst she was there.
Think it got to around 7am and whilst the pain was still there the midwife and doctor decided there was no cause for concern and i could go home on pain relief and antacids (although i KNEW this wasnt acid!), which i was VERY pleased about as i was so uncomfortable there.
So still not too clear as to what may have caused it, they suspect it may be where i have a really fibrous thickened scar over where the pain was (i had a pyloric stenosis when i was born prematurely) and that baby was wedged under there causing the pain. Although i have my doubts about this theory, baby was breech yesterday when i had my routine midwife check and there was no pain then. Also, i cant see how a baby's position could cause such an intense pain, discomfort perhaps but not like what i was feeling!
Perhaps it was just where i had eaten too much and the food couldnt move through and gave me real bad stitch!?!
Either way, i am just so relieved baby is ok, that would have been my worst nightmare.
And the pain is much much eased, just a little tender now!!!
Apart from that, everything else had been going very smoothly. Only 2 days to go til my 3d/4d scan, i cant wait!!
Oh and good news about my job, its safe and i can return part time after baby is born yay!!
Baby's movements are very strong and constant, you can see my belly moving all over sometimes, and baby has regular hiccups lol!
So i had my 3d/4d scan today and it went rather disappointingly .
Baby was head down (in the same position at my 16 and 21 week scans) with its head buried real deep into my pelvis/right hip area, its face/nose buried in the placenta and its hands covering the face!!!!!
So, all in all we couldnt get any clear pictures or a dvd .
The good news is (which i am very grateful for) growth was good (actually measuring ahead by a week) and the weight estimate was at 3lbs.
The other very good part is they will rescan me again in a few days in the hope baby may have moved at no extra charge. If we cant get any good pictures this time they will attempt another scan a further week later and if still no luck they will give me a refund and i only pay £50 to cover their scanning time (very very good considering the scan has cost £199!).
Im not holding out much hope though, it makes me wonder if its likely baby will move from this position after being like it for so long.
When i had my midwife appointment a few days ago she said baby was breech but im not so sure.........i have never felt what i would describe as a full turn, only kicks here and there so perhaps she was wrong.
Anyway, here is the one blurry pic we did get today:
Im pleased i have something albeit its nowhere near like it should be but better than leaving empty handed. We also got some regular 2d head pics.
Mum and sister came with me to the scan so it was nice they got to see what we could. They will hopefully come for the rescan too.
So on a happy note i am very pleased i have a healthy little (or not so little!) baby .
This time next week ill be at 30 weeks, that has been my latest milestone!! Cant wait, 30 weeks feels so much more that twenty something!!
I saw S today, she is 35 weeks now! She is looking really good. Her only complaint at the moment is really really bad swelling on her legs, it goes from her feet right up to her knees and looks so uncomfortable.
I have started getting my hospital bag organised, so much fun! I want it all prepared ready - will feel much happier knowing its done. Plus i have been scouring the shops trying to choose baby's coming home outfit, no firm decisions on that one yet!!
3d/4d scan all rescheduled - weds 9th sept, 7.10pm. Hoping we get some better pics and a dvd this time!!
I was so tired yesterday i didnt get a chance to update! It seems like that tiredness from the first trimester is starting to creep back in now.
So the 3d/4d rescan went the same as before, if not worse!! Baby was in the same position, head down with face in placenta and even more hands and feet in the way!!! One hand was resting on the head (i have a blurry pic of this which i'll upload later) and the other hand was holding its foot up to its face (which was very cute!).
So whilst again it was dissapointing not to see baby it was out of my control and at least we tried. Plus i get my money back so will buy something nice with that or put it towards my maternity leave money, may mean another month i can have off!!
My midwife appointment on tues went well, everything routine. It feels great to be at 30 weeks!!
Got to get very organised over the weekend for our holiday, i have so much washing to do and need to sort the car out. Plus its my baby shower this saturday, looking forward to that! I have ordered the decorations so im hoping they arrive in time!
It was a very tiring day and i must admit almost too much for me but very enjoyable!
I got some lovely gifts, lots of essential baby toiletries which i needed (havent bought any yet!), a few baby clothes (things i havent got loads of so great), some treats for me, toys for baby, and my work colleagues done a collection for me and got a really nice highchair and baby walker!
Here are a few pics!!
Me and mum
Me and bf's family
My friend Jo at 40 weeks (who gave birth this morning!!!!), me, and my friend Emma at 20 weeks
Really really annoying, they have no wireless internet access accross the whole park so i cant get online in the caravan, i have to walk over the the reception. I spend most of my time online so im at a real loss without it on tap lol!
Bf and the dogs are back at the caravan relaxing. The dogs seem to be having a good time, lots of walks and a nice beach walk today! They love tearing up and down the caravan chasing each other too!
Baby has been giving me lots of rib pokes ans hip pokes so i think he/she is having a good time too ha ha! Cant believe im 31 weeks, last week really flew by, think that was because i had the baby shower then was gearing up for the holiday. I think this next week will go very quick too, what with being away til friday then i have a long weekend as dont go back to work til tues.
I have been trying to work out whats left to buy for baby, this is what i can think of:
-Few more toys
-4 fitted sheets
-1 mattress protector
-Baby monitor (sister getting)
Not much at all!!!! Want to start finishing off the bedroom when we get home too. Bf is going to put the shelves up, think i may put the curtains and lampshade up too, wont make the cot up til last thing. Ant there are alot of boxes to get rid of.
Oh and i forgot to mention properly that my friend J gave birth to her baby the morning after my baby shower!!!
I had my hospital tour today, brought it home how real this is lol!! Kind of got me worried too, not as such about the birth but more about what if i want an epidural and there isnt one available, that kind of thing.
Im hoping to be able to give birth in the midwifery led unit. This is all being my pregnancy remains straight forward and i carry to at least 37 weeks and dont go too far overdue. Im definately going to start of as natural as i can, tens then hopefully a waterbirth with gas and air. BUT im definately open to an epidural if i need one, anything can happen so am prepared to accept what may come my way. I do really want to avoid pethidine as it crosses to the baby.
The midwives i saw today were all very nice, all delivery suites/wards etc looked very clean and welcoming so am happy i have a decent hopital!
Washed all my newborn clothes today, going to do the other sizes and sheets/bedding etc in the week.
My colleague and his wife popped in today with their baby who is now 11 days old, omg he is so so cute, i held him for ages!! Such a good baby too!!! Its making me so excited for when our baby arrives!
Im still going with all the bedding/clothing washing, still lots to do though!
Bf cleared out the shed at the weekend and we managed to get more clutter out the house so thats great.
I sat down last night and worked out the finances once i go onto maternity pay, it has been really worrying me how we will manage but we should just about cope as long as we remain careful. I feel a little better about this now.
