I think I'm every kind of Mom there is!? I'm a biological Mom to my 2 boys N-10 and B-6 and adoptive Mom of special needs dd L-2. I was a foster Mom and 2 weeks ago gave birth to a baby girl via gestational surrogacy.
But this journel is to write about my dh journey into a vasectomy reversal.
As a mod over at the informational and wonderful online support www.AdoptiveParentsNetwork.com I was perfectly happy to adopt again. My dd Bmom may end up pregnant with a 9th baby, she's only 40 and could very well have years left of fertility. But dh is exhausted from the state's involvement with dd before her adoption could FINALLY finalize after a year. So he's contacting Urologist first thing tomorrow morning to see about a time line and cost for the surgery. I've seen from $7000.00-$10,000.00. That's a lot to my very frugile hubby (and us a as a blue collar family) but it hasn't detoured him yet. I don't know how he'll ever manage to take time off of work to heal. When self-employed it's almost impossible to rest for an entire 24 hours and his job can be very physical.
He's even passed on his work ethic to my kids who spend a lot of time creating art for their Non-profit art store that benefits foster kids like their baby sister who didn't have a family and now does. www.SmithBuildingServices.com
They are very sweet kiddos and I can't wait to give birth or adopt another...or TWO
I'm getting obsessed thinking of babies. I've picked names, I force myself not to buy baby stuff, and dh hasn't even had his consultation yet! I've got to slow waaayyyy down or it's going to feel like forever till our baby is even in the making. We bought a microscope from Ebay already to so we can look for ourselves how the sperm growing is going. Ugg! Why didn't the Urologist office call today? I'm going to go check out a couple more.....
I got my only qoute back so far for vasectomy reversal and it doesn't souund good. It was $2500.00 ! cheap right, but the catch is that it isn't the microsurgery and is preformed under local instead of general anas.
I don't know if it's worth the risk of having to have a second reversal to the more expensive procedure. This one would just reconnect the tube but not the actually connecting opening to opening which can cause scar tissue and blockage and not work and has to be redone... I don't know what to do? I like how inexpensive the cheap version is and think it could work pretty well???? I should check out the success rates and see how I feel then.
If anyone has experiences to share between the two you are free to post here or in the comments section. I'd love to read more.
I'm not sure where you live or how far you are willing to travel, but I know Dr Wilson does micro VR's for $1500, as a ministry to God. I did not use him, but I know alot of poeple have, and have gotten pregnant. He is from Oklahoma. his website is microvasreversal.com. Good luck!
That is awesome advice! I'll check into it. I'm in Oregon, but even with plane tickets and hotel it's still a great bargin. Thank you!
It was really really tough and we did lots and lots of research and have chose Dr. Wilson in OK. AND>>>>>.......... dh's surgery is scheduled for OCTOBER 2!!! We have three October babies so we are hoping that our October surgery leads to another October baby. I'm just too impatient I guess But who could possibly be patient when stork-watching.
I think I'll give birth to one more and adopt one more if my dd BMom has another- I'm a tad baby-greedy!
The deposit check goes out tomorrow, then I've gotta purchase over $1000.00 in airline tickets and reserve a hotel room, but Dr. Wilson's fee is so reasonable that it still adds up to just under what we'd pay to stay home. YAY!
I've had every single one of m questions answered at the above support group. It's been SO great.
I had to change the VR date to October 26, but at least it's not too far away! It's still with Dr. Wilson in OK.
Gotta go change my ticker
