Thank girls! Hard to imagain how much my life changed 2 years ago when he was born. He sure has come a long way since then! Smile

Andrew' b-day party was suppose to be on Sunday. But the week before, we had a pipe burst and flooded the basement. So I had to cancel his party while it got repaired:( I'll hold it in Feb. when his adjuted B-day is. I guess that is the one good thing about being a preeemie, there are 2 significant dates for Birthdays.

Dh is out of town today, and is missing Drew' b-day. But we have plans to go to an indoor play place, then have family over for cake and go see the Christmas lights at our Botanic Garden. Should be fun for him! Smile

Awww - sorry about the pipe bursting, especially when you guys just remodeled the basement.

Happy 2nd Birthday Andrew! I sincerely can't believe its been 2 years. I remember vividly the chats about expensive formula and trying to get everything figured out for him.

I also cannot believe it's been two years. I still remember your birth story and how you were sitting on the couch (right?) when everything changed. I am so happy he has come so far. I know you were presented with a lot of challenges! Also, sorry to hear you had to postpone the party. Maybe since it will be well after the holidays you will feel more prepared to go for it.

:cake: Happy Birthday Andrew!!! :occasion1:

Good memory, Kayla! Yes, I was laying on the couch when I abrupted, home alone, with Ava, while G was (of course) out of town. Very scary! Spend a few days on Mag to try to kepe him baking, but got cut a few days later. An experience that changed me forever, and taught me a lot about myself.

Usually I don't remember details like that but the image always stuck with me. I can only imagine how scary a moment like that must be. I'm so glad you have so much to celebrate two years later!

I'm so sorry about the pipe. Did I know this? How much damage was done? I'm sorry dh isn't home but hope the night has been fun. Share a pic of your two year old!

I spoke of it breifly, but didn't make a post about it or anything. It was such a bummer!

G was out of town (naturally) and the kids and I were an hour away at a birthday party. I had left my phone with the stroller and stepped away from it. When I came back, I saw I had a text from my neighbor. That's slightly unusual, but every now and then we text eachother. I went to ignore the text and then a screen popped up that I had a missed call from her as well. So I checked the message and she said her mother just happened to come by, and there was water gushing from our house. I was 30 minutes from when she sent the text to when I saw it. So I dashed out of there and called my Dad, who was closer than I was to head over. I also called G, who thankfully had enough knowledge to call the water company and have then send someone to shut off the water. The water company arrived before my Dad did and got it shut off.

The water spigot had froze and burst. A lot ot water ran down the foundation and into the basement. The carpet was SOAKED! Thankfully my FIL was able to cap off the pipe, so we could have the water to the house turned back on. My Dad's girlfriend thought to lift the carpet, and run my carpet cleaner on the carpet pad to get the water out- that alone saved us thousands in repairs. We did have to pay $500 to have the carpet restretched and parts of the ceiling replaced and patched and some antifungal spray done to kill and mold or meldew spores that may have formed. It could have been a lot worse! I was so thankful for my neighbors mother stopping by and seeing it. She really saved the day!

Wow, you really were lucky. At least in terms of how much it cost you in the end. Our house flooded when I was a kid and we had to replace all of the carpet in the entire house. It also damaged a lot of our furniture. We were out of town and a pipe burst in the attic so no one knew until the water was running out the front door. I'll never forget it b/c we got to skate around on the slab until the new carpet was put in. Fun for the kids, not for the parents!

That is awful! I am thankful your neighbor contacted you. I couldn't imagine coming home to that mess. We had a leak in our previous home and the damage/repair process was not a fun one.

Yes! It was pretty bad. But for as bad as it was it could have been so much worse. Thankfully it was caught fairly early. It was not a major pipe that burst, so we were able to stay home and have the water turned back on. And, my family jumped into action to help out. The guys who came to restretch the carpet said they never get away with just restretching it. The pad, and most time the carpet always need replaced with flood damage. Thankfully I have a awesome carpet cleaner that could pull water out of anything. And we bought high quality pad and carpet so it faired better than most would have.

It did help me see how much can do alone. I never would have guess that not only could I handle that, but I could get it all repaired by myself. A big step for a girl, who 2 years ago couldn't even kill a spider on my own. Woo hoo for me! Smile The basement is back in order, and looks as if it never happened.
