Hi all, we were in a car accident last night (we're doing ok) and we need to replace both carseats asap. I'm feeling flustered (and very tired) so I'm looking for advice and tips on new carseats....
J's carseat is an Evenflo booster we received as a gift 3 1/2 years ago as a gift.
T is in a Chicco infant carrier that we also received 3 1/2 years ago as a gift (with travel system).
DH suggested going put and buying comparable carseats to avoid hassle with insurance. I get that, but after last night, I want to be especially sure that my babies are protected. What is the best ones out there? (that I can find in store). Also, T is now 16lbs. I planned on using an infant carrier for another 3-4 months (his growth has been similar to J and he outgrew his infant carrier by 16 mos). I'm wondering should I buy another infant carrier or purchase him a convertible? Any advice?
I hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance.

OMG! That is so scary, Cali! I'm so glad you are all okay!
We have the Britax Boulevard and a Roundabout. If I was to buy over again, I would get 2 Boulevards, or the Advocate. Both are excellent seats. I'm actually in the process of talking myself out of replacing the Roundabout with the Boulevard or the Adocate.
We like our Roundabout just fine, but the kids fight over who gets to sit in the Boulevard (it use to be Andrew's, but then Ava sat in it for a trip and now refuses to leave it. it must be comfy!) I would also just stick Trevor in a convertable seat, since he's a good size and will end up in one in the course of the next year anyways.
I'd get a convertible over the infant seat while you have the chance. He's big enough where I'd be okay with it (I hate tiny babies in huge convertibles). I think the Sunshine Kids Radian 80 is the seat with the highest weight and height limits, so it can be used for a very long time. I have a Britax Marathon 70 that I have zero issues with.
I'm sorry about the accident, Cali. Glad you are all safe. What happened? If you feel like sharing, of course.
I would maybe just do the convertible instead of the infant carrier but M was too big for his IC when he was 13 months.
How scary, Cali! I'm glad you're all okay.
I would also go with a convertible for T. Hopefully insurance isn't a huge pain to deal with.
How scary Cali, I'm glad you're okay. I agree with the car seat, get a convertible. We have two Eddie Bauer seats, I don't know if they are available in the US, and like them. I don't like the first years ones that my ILs bought for their car, I don't like the shape of them nor the adjustability of the angle of the seat. The are fine for once in a while in the ILs car, but not what I'd want for every day.

We have a Britax Boulevard and I feel like Jordan is very secure in it. I preferred it to some of the other Britax models because of the "wings" that surround her head. I agree with the others about going to a convertible now since T is already 16 pounds.
I am so glad you all are ok. How scary to be in an accident with your family.
*I* would spend the money to get two seats that harness to 65lbs - for your oldest I'd look at the Britax Frontier or Graco Nautilus and a combination seat that rf/ff like the Britax Boulevard/Marathon or Sunshine Kids Radian. You're only going to get a portion of the value of your old seats for depreciation purposes so it should be a fight with the insurance company.
