    Default Dumb parenting moments

    Ever have 'em?

Remember how Ava use to take out every item of clothing in her room- clean and dirty and make one big pile of clothes in the middle of her room at naptime? It would drive me up crazy! I never knew what was clean and what was dirty so I had to rewash and refold everything.

Well, Dh and I were talking about it the other day and he said, "Why didn't we just remove the dirty hamper from her room?"

Um..... *crickets*.....Never even occured to me.

Blame lack of sleep. That's what I do. Plenty of moments over here.

    Oh my!

Aiden likes to dump out all of his cloth diapers. It took me moving to a tiny apartment to figure out the solution was to put it behind a door he can't open. lol.

    Definitely.

Lately my big challenge is realizing what all Jordan can reach. I swear she has grown a couple of inches in the past few months and she can reach onto the counters now. I am constantly finding her reaching for things. Just this week my mom left a cup of tea steeping right near the edge so I had to kindly remind her that Jordan could reach up there. Of course I didn't even think about the fact that my prenatals (that are in one of those Monday-Sunday holders, so she could have gotten to them) were right at the edge and Jordan started to take them of the counter yesterday. Hello....

I know I've had plenty more of those moments but I can't think of them right now.

When I saw the title of your post, I immediately thought of all of the crazy people I've seen over the past month! Including a lady who put her double stroller on top of a flat bed at Costco in order to shop! I mean, seriously??

I have had my moments... including tonight. T's newest "game" is to throw his food. I'm using different strategies trying to eliminate this behavior. I mentioned this behavior to his teacher and she shared that he doesn't throw his food at school. Earlier tonight, the boys and I were snacking on some chips. T had one in his hand and he dropped it on the floor. I picked it up and tossed it into the sink. T then looked at me, signed please and more. I gave him another. He then threw it across the room. DH told T not to throw his food. T then pointed to me. DH and I then realized that T sees us tossing the food that is dropped on the floor into the sink (with the disposal). All T sees us doing is throwing food!!!!!!! Oops! At least the behavior will be easy to resolve now.... he's great at following a model!

Lol Cali! These are so great...reminds me of our "not so perfect" moments Remember the poop painting? Remember the duct tape used to foil the poop painting? Well, DJ remembers. Last week he duct taped his pj's shut. Problem...he duct taped himself up so well we couldn't get them off and had to cut them. And...they see us working on the house all the time. We gave DJ a set of play tools for Xmas. Alicia had put her door handle through the wall in her room during a temper tantrum. DJ "fixed" it yesterday while DH and I were hanging drywall...he used his plastic tools to increase the size by at least 3 times. Joy.

OMG, Cali!!That Costco incident was beyond a dumb parenting move! I hope an employee said something to them!

I have a lot of those moments where I don't know where the kids picked up a habit from, only to catch me or DH doing it in another context with those little eyes watching. I may have some dump parenting moves, but man! These kids are smart! They don't miss a thing!

It really amazes me how much more aware DS is of everything DH and I do these days. DS watched DH play part of a video game Saturday, which included a few "special" words and thrown remote. Guess who decided that the remote is supposed to be thrown across the room with some gibberish yesterday? Great reminder that Aiden will imitate whatever we do! Thankfully it's not all bad. He's finally willing to use a fork and spoon. He sucks at it of course, but it's no longer just a toy to use to stab the cat with.

Oh my goodness, they repeat everything. A car pulled out in front of me a few weeks back and I said the "s" word. Well, I think that is Alison's favorite word now...and she uses it in the right context. ACK!!

Kristi, we had that problem too...I told Alicia that that was a grown up word and she wasn't allowed to use it until she was grown up. Now me, I still blush if I swear in front of my folks
