February - Check in!

Um. Where did January go???

I've noticed a few of us have disappeared. Maybe a check in thread will help some of us come out from lurking again and say hello/give an update...

What is new with YOU?
How old are your LO('s)?
What are you LO('s) doing new lately?
What are there current favorites?
Anything you are looking forward to in February?
Do you think you are done with children or how many more would you like to have?
If you are preg - any cravings lately? Is DH helping out?
If you have a newborn - what is there current sleep schedule?
For those with children a little older - what time are they going to bed? What do you do afterwards?
What is the last movie you watched?
Last book read? (not children's)
Anything else you'd like to share?

What is new with YOU? Not much. We're going to Mexico in April. I'm super excited about that. We haven't been on a vacation like this since our honeymoon.
How old are your LO('s)? Ava is 3 and Andrew is 2.
What are you LO('s) doing new lately? Andrew is potty training and starting to speak a whole lot better! For a while, I was concerned that he may need some Speech Therapy, but I think he's coming along. SmileAva is learning to read. She is great at using her imagaination and can put together some pretty impressive puzzles alone.
What are there current favorites? Andrew is starting to love trains and cars and tractors. He spends all day building his trains and shouting, "All aboard!" It's super cute! SmileAva is really into ballet and dance. Obsessed would be a better word. She wears her dance shoes all day, flips out for anything dance related and is becoming super girlie. She insists on wearing a tutu, skirt or dress over just about every outfit.
Anything you are looking forward to in February? Andew has his 2nd Birthday party coming up on the 19th. Which is his adjusted birthday. I'm gald I prepared for it all in December, because outside of pinning a few things on Pinterest, I haven't put any effort into it.
Do you think you are done with children or how many more would you like to have? We are done having biological children. I had a tubal ligation, Adoption is not out of the question, maybe in a few years when G's travel slows way down so he can actually be home to enjoy another baby.
If you are preg - any cravings lately? Is DH helping out? Do my cravings count if I eat like I'm pregnant? Wink
If you have a newborn - what is there current sleep schedule?
For those with children a little older - what time are they going to bed? What do you do afterwards?
Ava is trying really hard to give up her nap. I'm trying equally hard to make her take it. If she does take a nap, they go to bed at 8pm. If she does not they go to bed at 6:30-7pm. Andrew will go down at either time, as long as he watches Ava get her routine and story first.
What is the last movie you watched? I think it was I am number 4. I was surprised I liked it.
Last book read? (not children's) I read The Handmaid's Tale.It was okay. I'm looking for a new book now so I'm excited to see what others are reading.
Anything else you'd like to share? Nah, I'm pretty boring.

What is new with YOU? A lot is going on right now. We are in the midst of trying to decide if we should move into another house. We need to buy a new car, which means selling my car. I'm super sad about that, btw. I love my car so much. We are, of course, preparing for a new arrival in June. You hear that uterus?? JUNE. Hmmm, I guess that's it? Wink

How old are your LO('s)? Jordan is getting closer and closer to two. Crazy. Our other babe is at about 18 weeks gestation.

What are you LO('s) doing new lately? Jordan is talking, talking, talking. The language explosion has been blowing us away for the last couple of months. She is really starting to learn her colors and recognizing more shapes. She loves to read her books and to have us read to her. Some days I think we read 20 books throughout the course of the day.

What are there current favorites? I think I would have to go with books and her new bath crayons. I have to admit that I love her bath crayons too!

Anything you are looking forward to in February? Yes! Our mini baby moon at the end of the month. I'm already a little nervous about leaving Jordan for the night but I really hope we can enjoy some quiet time together before things get even more busy.

Do you think you are done with children or how many more would you like to have? Good question. In my heart, I feel like we are only cut out for two. However, I would still love to adopt. I guess we will have to wait and see.

If you are preg - any cravings lately? Is DH helping out? I was craving salads for a long time but that has subsided a little. I was not craving any sweets or fried foods but that is slowly changing. My cravings can change from day to day but a shake sounds really good right now. - Jason is helping out a lot. He has pretty much taken over washing dishes and helps me grocery shop on the weekends. He will also run random errands for me. I let him carry Jordan a lot more as well.

If you have a newborn - what is there current sleep schedule?

For those with children a little older - what time are they going to bed? What do you do afterwards? Jordan goes to bed about 8:45 to 9:00. After she goes to bed I get on the internet, watch TV, hang out with Jason, etc. Most importantly, I relax.

What is the last movie you watched? Our Idiot Brother was the last new movie I watched. We had a free Direct TV movie voucher and so I picked that one because I love Paul Rudd. It was ok but not my favorite thing he has been in. The last movie I actually watched was Pretty in Pink on DVD the other day.

Last book read? (not children's) Jane Eyre

Anything else you'd like to share? I feel like an old woman. Last night I was limping around b/c of sciatic pain and then I kept waking up during the night because my hips hurt so bad. My lower back seems to be hurting a lot too, even when I try really hard to watch my posture. I know this is all temporary but I cannot believe how weak it makes me feel!

What is new with YOU? Not much really. Started attending Stroller Strides and a Breastfeeding playgroup here in Wichita Falls. Feels nice to be active again, though I'm very tried of not having my stuff and living out of boxes.
How old are your LO('s)? 15 months tomorrow!
What are you LO('s) doing new lately? Locking doors. Locking himself into rooms making me panic. Fun stuff. Blum 3
What are there current favorites? Wood blocks, BOOKS, and wood puzzles.
Anything you are looking forward to in February? Not really. Just trying to survive the month.
Do you think you are done with children or how many more would you like to have? We're TTC #2. We're undecided past that. I want 3 or 4, DH right now won't commit past 2. lol

For those with children a little older - what time are they going to bed? What do you do afterwards? We let Aiden flex his schedule right now since it's easier with all the moving and changes we've had. He goes down anywhere between 7pm and 9:30pm, though 8-8:30pm is most common. And I typically catch up on FB, email, forums, and pinterest at night. DH is currently not getting home till late and he goes to bed about an hour after getting home.
What is the last movie you watched? The Help. Rented it a few weeks ago.
Last book read? (not children's) Just finished the 3rd in The Hunger Games, Mockingjay, last night!
Anything else you'd like to share? Just counting down till we move March 8th. Biggrin

My mom and sisters have all just read The Night Circus. They all liked it so it's on my list to read. Along with The Hunger Games series, which I know you've started.

What is new with YOU? Kind of sad to say...nothing much. Letting my hair grow out. HA!
How old are your LO('s)? Good grief, she is almost 2...where has the time gone?
What are you LO('s) doing new lately? She knows most of her colors!!! I was totally surprised by this and she to help sweep!
What are there current favorites? Tortilla chips, Sesame Street, the playground.
Anything you are looking forward to in February? Tax returns!!!
Do you think you are done with children or how many more would you like to have? We go back and forth on this. We would really like Alison to have a brother or a sister but pregnancy is just so scary for me. I am just scared to do it again.
If you are preg - any cravings lately? Is DH helping out? Not pregnant.
If you have a newborn - what is there current sleep schedule? No newborns.
For those with children a little older - what time are they going to bed? What do you do afterwards? Alison goes to bed around 8pm and I am going to be honest and say that I am pretty close behind her. I have to get up for work at 5:30 so I need sleep!
What is the last movie you watched? Hmmm....Alison wanted to watch the Muppets Take Manhattan, so I think that is the last one.
Last book read? (not children's) The Hunger Games
Anything else you'd like to share? Going to the zoo this weekend! Can't wait!

I'll have to add The Night Circus to my requests at the library! Thanks for the rec. I started and finished all 3 Hunger Game books in the same week. the first and thrid one I read in one sitting (who needs sleep?!) and the 2nd I did in two sittings. They were great! I cannot wait until the movie comes out! That is one I'll actually see in the theater! Smile

I have a ridiculous fear of movie theaters but still want to see it when it comes out in March! I might have to take a Xanax, but I want to see it! HA!

That is an odd fear, Kristi. Although I am not one to judge. I have irrational fears too. I don't go to movie theaters because I'm too cheap. I have no problem waiting until movies come out on video. But, Hunger Games I want to see opening night!

What is new with YOU? It is boring to say that nothing is new, but it is the truth. We are finding it exciting to hear all about the Superbowl since it is basically in our backyard. Craig and Isaiah got to see the Super Bowl Village and went to the NFL experience. It was a great bonding time for them. Biggrin

How old are your LO('s)? Isaiah - 8; Keira and Sarafina -2

What are you LO('s) doing new lately? Isaiah - He is reading like mad. He is reading longer and longer chapter books. Biggrin Keira and Sarafina are continuing to have a language explosion. Sarafina finally will attempt the stairs on her own. Yay! I wanted to have a party the first time she told me "NO!" when I attempted to hold her hand. Keira is really talking in sentences. Both girls are learning to count. We have not really mastered colors or shapes yet. Forget letters. They just aren't too interested. I try. They will get it eventually.

What are their current favorites? Keira is loving Isaiah's stuffed Mickey Mouse from Disney World. He is being a great big brother and sharing it, but I plan to look for one to give her this week. Mickey Mouse gave that to him--A big thanks to Jen Israel's husband for setting that up-- and we want to make sure it is well-preserved. Sarafina loves Dora. Biggrin Isaiah has been writing checklists and reading a lot lately. I guess he needs to organize himself. Lol Although, he writes it down as he does it, which kind of defeats the purpose of a checklist. I don't care. He is writing and enjoying it, whichm akes me happy.

Anything you are looking forward to in February? I am looking forward to being a more proactive parent and setting up more social activities for Isaiah. Chocolate on Valentine's Day. Biggrin

Do you think you are done with children or how many more would you like to have? We are DONE!!!! No more kids!

For those with children a little older - what time are they going to bed? What do you do afterwards? K and S go to bed at 7:30. Isaiah usually goes to bed at 8:15, but he has had too much homework. He was up untl 9:30 last night. Grrrr! Afterward, we usually watch TV. The past two nights, I was so stressed that I just read a book in bed and went to sleep. Sad

What is the last movie you watched? Mamma Mia

Last book read? (not children's) Fate's Edge by Ilona Andrews

Anything else you'd like to share -- I want to read the Hunger Games trilogy, but have not had a chance to buy it. It is a long wait at the library. Biggrin

Mel- I read the library's book for The Hunger Games. I didn't expect to get them for years, since I was hold #800 and something! But they came shockingly fast! I think that's because everyone reads them so quickly.

I did end up buying them for DH for Christmas. I got them off Amazon, they by far had the best prices.

What is new with YOU? Where to start? Seems like this should have it's own post. Wink
How old are your LO('s)? Michael is 2 and Matthew just turned 1.
What are you LO('s) doing new lately? Matthew is walking more and more. Michael is talking more than ever and has found a new interest in the things that Matthew wants to play with.
What are there current favorites? Michael loves his trains. Loves legos. Loves to build and create and use his imagination. Matthew is currently favoriting new foods. Wink
Anything you are looking forward to in February? There is a writing seminar I'm considering attending. If I do then I'll definitely be looking forward to that.
Do you think you are done with children or how many more would you like to have? I'd like to have another but am definitely done. I'd love to consider adoption but it isn't something that has been discussed in a very long time.
If you are preg - any cravings lately? Is DH helping out?
If you have a newborn - what is there current sleep schedule?
For those with children a little older - what time are they going to bed? What do you do afterwards?
What is the last movie you watched? Can't remember!
Last book read? (not children's) The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks
Anything else you'd like to share?

I have to admit I've never heard of The Hunger Games! Climbing back into hole. :eekout:

Julie! As a writer, I am shocked you have not heard of these books! They are everywhere! Expecially with the movie lurking out there. I gotta admit, when I first heard what the first book was about, I had no desire to read it. But the hype sucked me in and I'm so glad it did. Never read books more than once. But these, I could reread. Even G, who only read Cliff Notes instead of real books, finished these in just a few sittings. They are that good! Add them to your list!

That's funny, Amber. I'm in Barnes and Noble constantly. I receive a magazine in the mail called Poets and Writers and I'm often checking out new books and I truly have not heard of them. Crazy! I'll have to google them now and see what they are about.

What is new with YOU? IDK, a lot. I have a lot of work ideas and a new business venture with a friend going on, so a lot is going on in my head. It's hard to sleep at night! Otherwise, not much.

How old are your LO('s)? Jackson is 3 and Colby is 8 months.

What are you LO('s) doing new lately? Colby just started crawling and sleeping a bit more at night. Last night he slept 7-4am! I am totally going to jinx myself. Jackson is doing the same old, growing and saying amazing things each day.

What are there current favorites? Colby loves anything. Jackson loves playing outside whenever he can. Inside at the moment he's obsessed with an alphabet train puzzle, that put together is 10 feet long.

Anything you are looking forward to in February? I finally got going on my diet and I'm looking forward to losing weight! For me the hardest part is getting started and I finally am in the groove.

Do you think you are done with children or how many more would you like to have? DH got the big V in the Fall. Of course right after he did it, I kind of regretted it. But then I'm glad he did it because 2 is great. If he hadn't, I think we would've had more.

If you have a newborn - what is there current sleep schedule? 7-around 2 and then he's up 1-2 more times.

For those with children a little older - what time are they going to bed? What do you do afterwards? Jackson's bedtime is 8. I love it once they're both in bed! I watch TV, am on my ipad, get work done on the computer, or take a hot bath.

What is the last movie you watched? ???

Last book read? (not children's) ???

Anything else you'd like to share? Nope!

What is new with YOU? Back in school. Super busy....just trying to keep my head above water.
How old are your LO('s)? Daphne is 3 and Mac is 5 months.
What are you LO('s) doing new lately? Hmm, Daphne is hilarious as usual. She's learning to read and write - just early, basic stuff like combining letter sounds etc. Mac can roll both ways and we're working hard at strengthening his core to get him to sit unassisted. His belly laugh makes all of us smile.
What are there current favorites? Daphne has worn the same red heart tutu from ON for the past 11 days, so I'd say that's a favorite. Mac tried a swing at the park for the first time today and loved it.
Anything you are looking forward to in February? Hmmm, DH turns 36 on the 8th. Oh! And I won tickets to see Andrea Bocelli on the radio the other day. I'm going with one of my girlfriends.
Do you think you are done with children or how many more would you like to have? We're done.
If you are preg - any cravings lately? Is DH helping out? N/A
If you have a newborn - what is there current sleep schedule? Not really a newborn anymore, but Mac wakes about every 3 hours to nurse. Some nights (at least once a week), I see every hour throughout the night.
For those with children a little older - what time are they going to bed? What do you do afterwards? Daphne gave up her afternoon nap, so she's been really tired and going to bed around 7. I usually study and play around online. This week I also have been working on our taxes.
What is the last movie you watched? I can't remember. I'm not much of a movie watcher. I can't sit in front of a screen that long. I do watch Downton Abbey every week though. Smile
Last book read? (not children's) Medical Surgical Nursing. Woooweee, what a good read.
Anything else you'd like to share? Daphne just recovered from UTI number 4. Her kidney ultrasound was abnormal. She has a VCUG (under sedation) scheduled for the 8th and a followup with the pediatric urologist on the 14th. I'm really hoping that she doesn't have serious kidney damage and that we're not looking at surgery. Mac also had a urology appointment because he had an undescended testicle. Good news -it's on its way down and he'll avoid surgery. I thought that was going to a sure thing, so I'm relieved about that.

What is new with YOU? Nothing too exciting!
How old are your LO('s)? J - 3, T - 16 months
What are you LO('s) doing new lately? J - he is now a little boy. He acts so "grown up". He is total boy. All about boy stuff and boy things. He is currently impressing me by writing his name and we're working on phonics.... T - wants do whatever his brother is doing. He loves to climb and has no fear. He loves to play and loves to laugh.
What are there current favorites? Both boys are into cars, animals, and outdoor play
Anything you are looking forward to in February? Spending time with my brand new nephews as soon as they get to come home!!
Do you think you are done with children or how many more would you like to have? I'm blessed to have 2. I am done.
If you have a newborn - what is there current sleep schedule? T is not a newborn, but he is still waking around 5/5:30. It's tough b/c he is still tired and we get up at 6....if only I could get him to sleep for a little bit longer! (it's happened a few times, so there is hope!)
For those with children a little older - what time are they going to bed? What do you do afterwards? - T is in bed at 7:30. J is in bed by 8:30. Afterwards, DH and I clean up the kitchen, pick up, watch a tv show, go to bed. Exciting, I know.
What is the last movie you watched? Hangover 2 ... on dvd. I haven't been to the movie theater in months.
Last book read? (not children's) I'm currently reading a few parenting books and a reading disability book. Again, exciting. lol. I find that the books I gravitate towards relate to my job or my boys.

What is new with YOU? Absolutely nothing!
How old are your LO('s)? Miles is 3 and Vivi is 2 months
What are you LO('s) doing new lately? Miles is just talking a lot. Still obsessed with trains. He loves to go ice-fishing with dh. Vivi is starting to be awake for longer periods of time. She coos and smiles ALL the time. She is such an easy-going baby.
What are there current favorites? Miles' favorites are his Thomas trains. Vivian...ummm nursing? She is really starting to love her bouncy seat...she smiles and coos at the toys hanging on it.
Anything you are looking forward to in February? Valentine's Day, for no specific reason other than Miles is really getting into making Valentines this year so that's been fun.
Do you think you are done with children or how many more would you like to have? Well, we think we are done but we're not doing anything to prevent that, so we shall see. I think we'd be open to 1 more if it does happen, but after 3 we would DEF be done.
If you are preg - any cravings lately? Is DH helping out?
If you have a newborn - what is there current sleep schedule? She usually goes down around 8 and sleeps one long stretch (anywhere from 4-6 hours) and is up every 3 hours after that.
For those with children a little older - what time are they going to bed? What do you do afterwards? Miles is usually asleep by 8. Dh puts him to bed most nights while I put Vivian to bed. I usually shower and go straight to bed, but the last few nights I've been going on the computer.
What is the last movie you watched? Cars2 in theatre. We didn't make it through the whole movie.
Last book read? (not children's) No idea

Hi all, I'm still around. I'll come back and update in a few days but I wanted to let you all in on what is going on with me. I found a lump in my breast on Jan 27. I also have some skin changes and discharge so I'm quite concerned. My maternal aunt is a survivor and was both BCRA1 and 2 positive. I am STILL waiting for an appointment for a mammo and ultrasound. I'm scared and nervous and at this point frustrated that I am still waiting. Please say a prayer for me.

Prayers to you Nicole & Joy on Daphne! KUP Congrats Cali!

What is new with YOU? Losing my mind with a hand full 3.5 year old! I'm still grieving the lose of my cat JJ. He was only 13 and had bone cancer so I had to put him down the day after my anniversary. It was very peaceful and I'm grateful he was in my arms when it was done. Night time in bed was "our time" because he had to cuddle with me when the kids weren't around. I miss him so much! Telling Grace was really hard.

How old are your LO('s)? Grace 3.5 years Ben 10 months

What are you LO('s) doing new lately? Grace is dressing herself with no help. She enjoys her swing set and bike. Loves counting, coloring and helping in the kitchen and with Ben. We are having lots of behavioral issues. She does just about anything for attention. She loves to pretend and is so active and verbal. I'm thinking early drama or acting classes will be a good outlet for her. As most of you know I'm living with my in-laws in a remote area until the end on July/early August. So there's not much to do. I did find a dance studio that will have summer classes and a kids center about 45 minutes away that is for under 5 years old with tons of classes. I'm waiting to hear back from them because it's all inclusive monthly membership. So I hope it's affordable. Ben is growing way too fast! Has 2 teeth and eats everything in sight. He took his first steps about 2 weeks ago. He's easy like Grace was as a baby but more clingy. We had to move him out of our room and put Grace in with us because he cried until I picked him up. Now he is getting up only once a night to nurse.

What are there current favorites? She really enjoys her swing set and bike. Ben loves to dance, scream and play peek a boo.

Anything you are looking forward to in February? Mini alone Disney trip for me and hubby around Leap day.

Do you think you are done with children or how many more would you like to have? Yup. Big V for hubby last Aug.

For those with children a little older - what time are they going to bed? 9 - 10pm What do you do afterwards? Sleep, read or cuddle. lol

What is the last movie you watched? Moneyball..loved it!

Last book read? (not children's) Sadly Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 6 months ago. Hoping to start The Hunger Games soon.

Anything else you'd like to share? T&P's needed. Smile Grace is having a sedated MRI tomorrow morning because of her swollen big toe. It happened in October and never went down. X-rays didn't show anything.

[INDENT] What is new with YOU? I just had my gallbladder removed
How old are your LO('s)? Deacon - 3 yrs, Kara - 6 weeks
What are you LO('s) doing new lately? Deacon loves imagining things. He is constantly making up funny stories and acting out his new karate moves. Kara is smiling now.
What are there current favorites? Deacon's is probably karate or anything related. If something on TV shows karate or whatever he is glued to it. Justin told him he would put him in karate school when he is 4. Kara's favorite this is making sure I never sleep.
Anything you are looking forward to in February? Nope. Just finding time to nap when I can.
Do you think you are done with children or how many more would you like to have? As far as us TTC, we are done. I am planning to make that permanent soon. We still have embryos left over from our IVF cycle though so we may have more if those work in a few years.
If you are preg - any cravings lately? Is DH helping out?
If you have a newborn - what is there current sleep schedule? Its still not a schedule. She just started sleeping 4-5 hours at night in one stretch. That's about all.
For those with children a little older - what time are they going to bed? What do you do afterwards? Deacon goes to bed really late and sleeps in late. Justin does his nighttime routine so I don't care when he goes down since I'm not the one doing it.
What is the last movie you watched? Last night we watched Spiderman.
Last book read? (not children's) Monster Toddler - its Deacon's favorite one right now.
Anything else you'd like to share? Um, I can't think of anything at the moment.

Well it was hard at first but over quickly. Daddy was holding her and put her down on the bed and she saw the machines and all and that was it. She freaked out and started fighting to get away so they decided to do the gas mask part quickly. So she was crying and I know frightened but we sang to her and rocked her until she was under. It was really tough on me because I completely understand her fear and am the same way. I will fight anesthesia or most drugs tooth and nail. (During my oral surgery I sat up and tried to rip the IV out of my arm.) I tried to fight back the tears and kissed her on the cheek. So 45 minutes passed while we had lunch. We walked back to the waiting room and she was just waking up and was fine. No crying or anything. She thought the pink and purple heart wrap around her IV on her hand was cool. No nausea or anything. Had some Gatorade and we were on our way home. Smile

She trips a lot because of her "in-toeing" and we think that's how it happened. It just swelled and never went down at all even 4 months later. It's tender but she doesn't complain about it regularly. According to the orthopedist her in-toeing is mild and should get better with time. The x-rays showed no breaks or fractures just swelling. He suspects cartilage may have sheared off and caused the swelling. The MRI was the next step. So I'm waiting to hear back on what that showed. I'm praying surgery is not necessary.

How are you feeling??? What is recovery time like for that? I can't imagine having that done with a new little one at home. :bighug:

I do hope surgery isn't necessary. Keep us posted when you hear back on the MRI. Did they say when that might be?
Hugs about the whole gas mask scenario. Can't imagine. Must be relieved to have that over with. :bighug:

I'm glad Grace woke up happy, Beth. That must have been really difficult watching her fight in the beginning. Hopefully you get all your answers from the MRI.

Jenn - I hope your recovery has been quick. I saw you post somewhere about the surgery and how much better you are feeling.

Beth - I hope they can figure out what is going on. I am glad that the MRI went well and I hope you get some answers.
