My inlaws watched my kiddos the other day. They don't like using cloth diapers. Fine. Whatever. We have a stash of disposables. They know that the hamper in the room is dor cloth diapers only. It is marked clearly on the lid "CLOTH DIAPERS ONLY" and is pretty obvious when you open the lid, it's a wet bag full of dirty CD's. They always stick a used disposable diaper in there. Always. Regardless of me telling them before we leave that the hamper with the lid is just for CD's. Anyhoo- I tossed my diapers into the wash, forgetting they were here, and didn't really give it another thought. I'm pretty sure you see where this is going...
Is my front loader okay after eating a diaper? I'm running it on an empty cycle right now with vinegar, in hopes of flushing the bits of diaper that were torn up in there.
CDers- have you done this before? Are my diapers okay?
Oh, gross! Did it really eat the diaper, like, there's nothing left of it but bits?! Gross!
It did. All I found was bits and pieces of the shredded diaper. Free babysiting isn't worth it, if we have to over haul the washing machine.
I just don't understand why they throw the disposable diapers in there. It's been the same process for almost 3 years now. It's not like this is anew or complicated system. Sigh!
I'm so sorry that happened! I would be so annoyed.
I would hope your washer is ok. I've accidentally washed things (not diapers!) that were left in DH or DS's pockets. Although, usually it is a small paper or something similar and the pieces are easy to clean. I hope you can get all the pieces Sorry this happened to you.
Mommy to 2 amazing little boys!
Angel babies 6/9/07 & 11/16/07
I'm sorry, Amber. How frustrating!
DH did!!! He had not been doing the Mr. Mom thing very long and he calls me at work. "You will never guess what I did"? And I am thinking the worst...but when he said he washed I diaper I just cracked up. He had a mess!! HAHA!
EW! That sucks! I'm assuming once you get the machine cleaned out all will be well. I'd give the diapers another regular wash just to be safe. I wouldn't do more to your CDs till you notice an issue. I like to keep things simple when possible!
Oh no! I hope you got all of the pieces out. If not, maybe let the washer dry and then try a lint roller to pick up any that are on top of the inside of the washer. For any that are in holes, maybe use a vacuum hose to suck them out. Again, with a dry washer. HA! I hope the washer is okay.
