Iphones

Anyone have one and want to give me some tips? I just got a 4S yesterday. :woohoo:
I did get an Otter cover, because I'm, soo clumsy. I dropped my old phone a million times. Thankfully it always survived, even when pieced back together, but I hear the Iphones are not so forgiving. but if they are tougher than I've been lead to believe, I'd like a cute cover for it too.

What apps are must haves for you?
What are must haves apps for your kids?
Do you let your kids play with it?
What kind of cover do you have?

Anything else I need to know about them? I feel like there should be a class. My last phones have always been the free phones so I want to be able to use this to its full capabilites. TIA! Smile

My BIL is Mr. Apple. I was years behind most of my family in getting an iPhone, much to his disappointment. If I ever have a question, I call him. I suspect that he is an undercover employee of theirs and it is his personal responsibility to get as many people as possible to buy Apple products.

What apps are must haves for you? My favorites are The Weather Channel (much better than the weather app it comes with), Facebook (duh), Pandora (use it all. the. time.), Spark Recipes has been an okay recipe app but there are lots of them, Pinterest (but you can only repin, not pin new sites), Bump (to quickly get info from another iPhone), Instagram (for photos), and I go through phases with games but my favorite right now is Scramble with friends (it's like boggle), Shazam (it listens to a song and tells you the name and artist)... Ok, I think that's it. Wink

What are must haves apps for your kids? DoodleBuddy, MeeGenius (children's books and you can get a few for free which are the only ones I have). The only app I've paid for that is for Jordan is The ABC Song. She's really into the song but it turns out the app has other fun games too. There is a "coloring book", balloon popping game, a typewriter, etc. She really likes this one which is the only reason I paid the extra to get full access to all of it. Jordan also likes the YouTube app that comes on the phone b/c there are a few I have tagged as favorites for her. She likes a Seasame Street ABC song, some British version of If You Are Happy and You Know It as well as The Duck Song.

Do you let your kids play with it? Yes. I do try to limit the time I allow her to play on it because I see so many kids out with their parents and they have their faces buried in a phone or game console. I sort of look at it like it's TV time, even though it is interactive, I feel like it's best to let her play when it's doing more help than harm. It's a great distraction for diaper changes since she can be so resistant.

What kind of cover do you have? I have a purple Speck cover. The Otterbox is better for coverage and durability but the Speck is prettier.

I'm way too tired to answer all your questions right now. Sorry.

But I have a Speck Candyshell and it's done really well for my phone. I've dropped my 4s about 200 times and let DS play on it and eat it. Lol

I jsut heard today that the Otterbox covers are going to get a lot prettier! They just hired DH's company to print new designs for them.

Jackie- I bet you are sooo sick of the driving and are ready to be settled for a little while. Sad

I love my iPhone. No clue what kind of cover I have because it was a gift my DH. It is pretty though. I have dropped my phone a lot and it works just fine. My favorite apps are Facebook, The Weather Channel, CNN, Today Show, Uno, Pandora Radio, Shazam, Instagram, Photoshop (the free version), all the Angry Birds games, Cows in Space, and I am sure there are others that I cannot think of right now. For my kids, the girls love a Sesame Street app with The Count. I forget what it is called. Whenever they see The Count now they say, "Ah, Ah Ah." Smile For Isaiah, we love Spellosaur, a few math apps, Hungry Fish, Where's my Water, and I am sure there are others for him too, but I am tired and don't have my phone near me.

Yes, we let the kids play with our phones. However, their time is limited. The girls get to play with it when I need them to settle down in public. It helps for a few minutes. Isaiah gets more time because he is 8. Plus, we use it to practice his math facts and spelling words for school.

We have the Fisher Price apps. The girls seem to enjoy them, but they love Count TV. I paid for Count TV, but it was well worth the money. The only issue I have with it is that I have memorized the video content that goes with every number. We also have "The Monster at the End of this Book 2." The girls like that book. It is interactive. They have to swipe away paper clips and glue, etc. Plus, it has Elmo in it. Lol I paid for that app too. I am glad I did though. I need to find some more apps for my girls and Isaiah. I will have to check out some of those that you listed. Biggrin
