I was just reading on the news that a couple of tornadoes touched down near Dallas....isn't that close to you?? You ok??
She has been updating on FB, that the storms have moved away from her and she is now safe. I think she had some scary moments. I saw that on the news too while at the gym. The tornado on the ground was very scary!
See! This is why you need facebook.
Yes, there have been at least two confirmed tornadoes that I know of, both relatively close to us. One touched down right between my sisters' houses in south Arlington, about 25 miles or so from my house. Yikes, as I'm typing this they may be reporting more on the ground.
I'm on the east side of the metroplex and we are in the clear now. I believe most of my friends and family are in the clear as well, as the storms are all west of us. Hopefully that is the last of it.
I also meant to say thank you for checking. I was scared, not only for my Jordan and I but for everyone I know in this area. The one that touched down in Dallas was lifting 18 wheeler trailers up into the air like they were made of paper. If I see video online then I will see if I can post it here.
How scary! I'm so glad you are safe. I saw a video on weather.com that was pretty scary!!
This is where my 4 year old niece goes to MDO. Their safe room had the ceiling caving in with water and it flooded. Thankfully, all the children and adults were okay. A tornado was confirmed in this area which is also right next to both my sisters' houses as well as a close family friend (the fourth sister as I call her). The tornado was within miles of all of their homes and may have hit this church.
I wish I could find video of of the truck trailers flying 100's of feet into the air. Here are pictures. This was in Dallas, east of my home and my family. http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/04/03/us-usa-tornado-dallas-idUSBRE8320WD20120403
Scary!!! I am glad that you and your family are all ok! I have never seen one in real life but I imagine it would be terrifying!
And yes....I know, I am lame for not having a Facebook! HA!
You hear this guy say he is at 287 and Sublett. That is where I exit to get to my middle sister's house. This is EERILY close to them. The tornado must have barely missed their home.
Oh my goodness, that is so scary. I'm so glad you and your family are all okay. I hope you're in the clear now.
So glad you guys are ok!
the videos of those semi-trucks being picked up and spinning in the air is CRAZY! My local news keeps showing it! I cannot believe there were nolives lost with that destruction!
The news tonight said we had between 10-12 tornadoes in North Texas today. We will find out an exact number after the damage is surveyed. The one that hit my niece's school was on video though so we know that was one of them. While they were waiting for the tornado to pass, the roof gave way and started flooding the room that they had the children in. My sister said the kids were terrified and asking to be held when she went to get my niece.
All in all, everyone is so lucky. No deaths have been reported as of ten o'clock tonight.
:bighug: How terrifying, Kayla. I can't imagine. So glad you and yours are safe now.
That is very scary! I am glad that most people seem to be okay. I have not watched the semi-trailer video yet. I will try to do it today.
I hate tornado season. Quite often, we have tornado watches in the middle of the night here. I am sure it happens almost everywhere, but it seems like it is almost every time we have a severe thunderstorm watch for my part of Indiana, it is for late evening and early morning. Sometimes, I am scared to go to sleep because I fear we will not hear a siren and a tornado will hit.
I was watching the video of the semi trucks on the news last night! So scary! And those poor kids must have been just terrified when the roof blew away! I am so glad that everyone is ok!
I was so happy to hear on FB that you were okay. That one video taken with the guy's iPhone was crazy. I haven't seen the videos of the 18 wheelers yet though.
That is really scary to me about your nieces MDO! I'm really glad you're all safe.

Those poor kids. They must have been terrified. That is one of my big fears about leaving my kids at daycare. What if there is a tornado that hits their daycare or I cannot get to them because of blocked roads? Scary stuff.
