Need birthday party ideas!

I can't believe I'm already planning Gage and Claire's THIRD birthday! Its crazy they've grown so much so fast. I'm trying to keep it small. DH and I both have big families so if I invite one person we have to invite them all. So I sat down and started a list and ended up with 58 people on the list not including DH, I, G and C. So I'm definatly going to have to trim that list. I need ideas of what to do. The last two years we had it at our house but its so much work! I want to have it at a restaurant and have everyone pay their own way but I don't know of a restaurant that would be good for a kids b-day party besides like Mcdonalds or Chuck E Cheese or something. I hate Chuck E Cheese on the weekends so thats out. I don't know. I just want to keep it low key. Anybody have any ideas?

What about a pizza place? Most of them will cater to a large party, and pizza is always a crowd pleaser! Or maybe a kids activity place? You could hold it during a meal (most places around here will let you bring in food, or will have pizza or something for you) or you can host it at an off meal hour and serve light snacks and cake. the kids places around me are cheaper than what I spend to throw a party at my house.

Or, you are in TX...what about a park or playground? You could do a BBQ, or just pick up easy food like premade sandwiches or Chick-Fil-a or something.

Share detail of what you decide! Smile

Its funny you say a park, because dh and I actually talked about that but last year we had to postpone their b-day because it snowed/iced. lol.

This time of year can be so unpredictable with the weather. We went to the park yesterday and it was really nice, just a little breezy. However, this week some days are supposed to only get up into the upper 40's.

I'm trying to think of places around you... My sister lives really close to you and she has some mom friends around there too. Let me ask and see if they have any ideas!

Ideas from my sister and I:

Potluck party at a park. (But that's probably out, lol)

Carousel party in The Parks Mall food court.

Cici's pizza

Party at home and set up stations for the kids - 2 o'clock so you don't have to have lunch, just a cake.

YMCA if you are members.

Trail Dust since they have the big indoor slide.

I'm trying to think of all the new places on south Cooper. Maybe one of those places would be kids friendly?

I'm guessing Pump It Up or The Little Gym are out since they can be expensive.

I can't believe they are almost 3!!!

Kayla has some great ideas!! I've done park parties in the past, but the weather is pretty consistent around here. We've been to a few bday parties that were scheduled from 10-12 and from 3-5 so that the parents supplied snacks and cake/ice cream. That seemed to eliminate a lot of cost and work.

What Kayla said! :biglaugh:

Sounds like she has true ideas for your area! Keep us posted what you decide. Did you have a particular theme in mind? Can't believe they are almost 3!

I am a big fan of no meal parties. I've done a couple and they are always hits. Let us know what you pick!

We decided to go to the zoo since its only 5 dollars to gp the month of Jan and Feb but if the weather is bad we will just have their friends over to the house to play. We just invited a few of their friends (Ok 8 but since its two of them its a few for each). Afterwards we will go to a pizza buffet and visit with grandparents and aunts and uncles since we are going on a Friday and most of them will be working.

Glad you figured something out. Tx weather is crazy! Just Saturday it was 80 degrees and sunny here. Who knows what we will expect later this week. Its hard to plan an outdoor party this time of year because its so hit or miss.

The zoo with friends sounds fun.

Glad you figured something out! I wish our zoo was closer and that cheap! That sounds fun!

I was going to suggest going bowling and just making sure everybody knew ahead of time that they paid for their portion. Miles LOVES to bowl!
