Anyone made one? I watched a tutorial on YT. It looked easy. However, I have no spatial skills or crafty abilities whatsoever. The pillow I made in home ec in junior high had a slanted head because I cannot follow a pattern to save my life.Do you think I could make these for the girls? I want them to have big puffy tutus for their 2 year pics. I feel like I will get very few years where I can really make them all girly and cute. What do you think?
I did one for Ava's 1st b-day. It was SUPER easy! Go for it!!

I also made one for Jordan's first birthday. Well, I made two actually. I have a couple of suggestions...
1. When in doubt, make it too long rather than too short. You can always go back and trim the extra.
2. I think less is more when it comes to colors. I didn't like my first one b/c I did contrasting colors (orange, purple and a little pink - technically yellow would be the contrasting color but you get the idea) The colors looked a little muddled when I was finished and the orange was way too loud next to the purple and pink. My second one was turquoise and purple which looked much better. I also like Amber's with just one color.
3. The tighter you tie each strand, the more strands you will get and the more poof you will get. It's all about how much you want to do.
4. Cutting the tulle is the hardest part IMO. There are some interesting techniques to make that part easier which I should have done. I will try to find a link since the tutorial I found on youtube didn't include that tip.
I cut the tulle like she does in this video.

I remember seeing one that used cardboard but I can't find it now. The way I did it was fine, you just have to have a good hold on the tulle because it slips away easily. The nice thing is that little mistakes are hidden easily in all the tulle. Have fun!!! Don't forget to share pics.![]()
This is on my to-do list, too. I have lots of tulle and I think the right elastic! Share pictures of yours, Melanie!

Thanks for the pictures and the links. We shall see if I can do this. Yikes!
Both of those tutus were fantastic. They look so easy. I pray I can do something cute. I am not sure what colors yet, but I love Keira in turquoise and Sarafina in purple.
