I think I posted a while back about cleaning. What do you do to organize your home and your kids? Since the twins have arrived, I feel like everything is out of control. My DH feels that way too. We get the house clean. Then, we get this influx of art projects, school papers, mail, etc. and we always vow to throw away things right away or file them. However, we get home at night and it just ends up on the kitchen table. So, it just seems like our house is in disarray. We are both so tired of it. We nag at each other about it.
I did buy some on the wall file things, like what you see at the doctor's office by the exam rooms. My DH has not put them up yet. He was all for it until I brought them home. Then, he said that he doesn't think they will make any bit of difference. It is so frustrating. I planned to put Isaiah's monthly schedule on the front and then put important school papers in it. Newsletters, things we need to return, etc. My hope was that it would get all the important papers off the table and kitchen counter. We must become organized. If I was not spatially-challenged, I would hang everything myself. However, my attempts at that usually result in very crooked objects on the walls. Although, I may just do it this weekend if he won't.
I hate clutter...so I am always purging and cleaning and finding new homes for things. We purchased a really cool cabinet at an estate sale that I think was actually used as a bathroom cabinet but we use it for books and other paperwork. I am also love shelves...DH has made many shelves that we have throughout the house. I have three in Alison's room that hold her stuffed animals so that they are not taking up space in the toybox or scattered through her room.
I struggle with this as well. I HATE clutter but find that I have it around my house much of the time, especially now that we have a toddler. Since we are looking into moving, I'm hoping to start fresh in the new house.
Have you looked on Pinterest? I'm always loving the creative ways that people find to organize their things. I do use baskets for books, toys and even one on the desk for important papers that need to be looked at later. I still have clutter though so I know I need to work on this.
We have a couple of binders for papers and a hole punch. I have one for recipes and other stuff that I clip/print etc. We have a house one that we use for receipts and household records (paint colours, repairs etc) and I have one for the kids. Nothing comes into the main living area...right inside of the door is my desk with one of those desk top paper organizers. Current to be dealt with goes on top, to be filed goes in the middle and stuff that I cannot decide where it goes (magazines etc) go on the bottom "drawer". I deal with putting the paper in the binders asap, at least once a week. I also put a recycling bin right there inside the front door, so anything that we don't need goes immediately into the paper recycling.

We don't have much clutter, but I purge items often. If we don't have a place or a use for it, then it gotsta go! I try to be mindful on what enters the house. But, this is all easy for me to say, since I stay home.
I don't know what I'll do when the kids are school age. Right now (without being there) I'd probably give each kid a folder. They can keep whatever papers/artwork/whatever in there. Once it's full, there will be a one in, one out policy.
I purge as much as possible and take photos of those things I want the info from but don't really want to keep around (like Aiden's artwork, business cards, etc). I find it a lot easier to stay organized digitally.
Pinterest is amazing about organization ideas! I've gotten a few ideas from there that I've already tried and there are several more I want to work on now that we have a house here.
Struggling with this right now. I feel like all I do all day is put things away! I need to purge TOYS badly, but that's impossible when Miles is your child. He notices *everything* and questions where I put a toy all the time! Drives me insane!
As far as papers, I don't let those pile up at all. But, I'm home all day. Bills I need to pay go up in the cupboard or I pay them right away. File away the stub, or toss what's un-needed.
I need to purge. Things are better than they once were but some days I don't have the time to go through all incoming paperwork and it piles up. Perhaps I should go through the current pile right now with my coffee.
Melanie - I think that wall file definitely sounds helpful. I hope dh will put it up for you this weekend.
