Can't wait to see pics Jackie!

Melanie, where to you find time for all that?

For us, its a busy week just because I'm hosting my sister's baby shower on Sunday. So, I'm in full on prep mode. The kids have school each morning and Wednesday Rob is starting a kid/dad activity with them that is every wednesday night until 7. Tonight I have to bake the cake and clean one room of the house. I'm also working on a movie for my FIL of some old slides we converted for a reunion they are having.

Melanie... before you know it, they will be off to college! Until then, just enjoy

Nicole... have fun prepping for the shower! Sounds fun!!

We are pretty booked over here, too.... lessons, sports games, school, work, we went to the football game yesterday and I think we're going to a baseball game this weekend... Fall seems to be one of the busiest times of year for us as there are so many fun kid things to do.

So, here is a random question.. how do your kids behave when you are on the phone?

I'm rarely on the phone. And when I am on the phone, it is typically for a short period of time. When I do have to be on the phone, my kids seem to be conditioned to literally scream/ yell/ cry as loud as they can. It never fails. They could be playing nicely with their toys, reading quietly, watching tv, etc... but once my attention is taken away from them due to the phone, they freak out. It gets frustrating...

My son already tries to steal the phone from me. Thankfully it's rare when I really need to talk to someone.

Yep, distracted mommy syndrome. We have it here too. They HATE it when I'm on the phone.

That does sound busy, Melanie! Does your dh workout at home or go to a gym? Does he tend to do go every day at the same time? When is your zumba? At night? How does Isaiah like competitive swimming?

Tell us about the shower! Is it today? Hope it goes well!

Lately I seem to have phone calls that I have to make by certain times (deadlines to give a decision, set up appts, etc) and I try to make those while they are eating breakfast (if I can't make them before they wake up) partly because I need to be able to hear. The hard part is when I leave a message and get a call back an hour later when the last thing the boys want is for me to be on the phone! They definitely take it up an octave! Other calls - like catching up with family or friends I make at night while washing dishes or after they've gone to bed. These boys can be so peaceful and quiet but it's true...the phone rings and things get wild!

My DH and I tag team the kids. We can just drop Isaiah off at practices, so sometimes I run errands or drop him off and go home with the twinkles, then DH picks him up.

    Definitely!

Fall is very busy for us too. Sports seem to overlap. October is always really busy for us because we travel to see my parents once and we try to go to the zoo and a football game.

Julie- Let's see! My DH goes to the gym right now, but we are planning to buy Insanity for him to do in the mornings in order to make our evenings less crazy. He works out every evening after work when possible. So, it keeps me busy with the kids. It is necessary though. I would rather handle the stress of the kids than have him die of a stroke. His blood pressure is slowly coming down. It was in the mild - moderate hypertensive range during his last doctor's appt. Thanks goodness.

As for me, I teach Zumba on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. That is all I can handle. I have been asked to teach for Isaiah's swim club, but I doubt those moms have any more time than I do. I hope to add in Pilates this week somehow. I need to start riding a stationary bike once to twice a week, but the thoughts makes me want to take a nap. Blah, boring!

Isaiah seems to like swimming so far. We have not had any meets yet. He swims competitively in the summer, but it is designed for fun. So, this is more intense. I love the head coach. He takes his time with all the kids when he is coaching their practice. It is a fantastic program. Isaiah just isn't a team sport kid. I wish he was, but he gets all worked up about his mistakes and such. This way, he just focuses on himself. I feel bad because we have not really worked with him on things like basketball and such. He is just starting to get more competitive though. It was the norm for boys to start competitive sports later back 20 or so years ago. I know that many of our friends have said that they did not start baseball until age 9. Isaiah is too old now. He will never get to play and won't have the skills.

As for the phone calls, it is open season on screaming, yelling, hair pulling, fighting, etc. as soon as I get on the phone. I either make sure that everyone is in a safe place and go in my room with the door closed, or I make important phone calls from work. Isaiah just pesters me. We have been working on that with some behavior mod. (although my consistency has been shoddy because I end up all distracted with all 3 kids.). My girls are just too young to really understand, so I try to just keep from being in a situation where they can do all of that while I am on the phone. Keira is a high-pitched screamer (drives me up the wall), so it is best to avoid rather than place myself in a situation where I have to discipline her. She is one strong-willed kid.

Melanie - does your dh monitor his bp at home? I have a home bp machine and realized after not feeling well the other day that I haven't really checked it much lately. So glad your dh's bp is coming down. I've heard a lot about Insanity lately. Can't wait to hear how he likes it! Does Isaiah show interest in baseball? Could be fun to do with family for fun. Can't wait to hear how he likes swimming as it goes on.

Yes, he monitors it at home. He gets frustrated with it though!

Isaiah shows interest in all sports off and on, but we cannot let him participate in everything. I would love to spend time with him practicing. Right now, we just do not have the time. He is lucky to get his homework done. This week, we will be out every night btw gymnastics, swimming, Zumba, and his counseling session. Something will have to give at some point. My hope is that it can be counseling.

    Just to update:

If you want to know more information about some serious issues at Isaiah's school, send me a message.
