    Question RQ - Weekend Edition

What was something you did as a child that got you into trouble for but is something that was actually quite funny?

I don't know that it got me into additional trouble, but it must be funny because after my mom told the story to DH, he brings it up all the time!

When I was about 3 or 4, I got sent to my room for something or other. I was super mad about it, so I laid down on the floor and put my mouth to the crack under the door and screamed for 30 minutes straight. If I had to be miserable, so did everyone else!

I got in serious trouble for trying to put a diaper on the cat. Now, remember, this was in the early 70s so we had cloth with big pins...yep stuck the cat. Poor old Specks, she put up with a lot from us kids.

When my sister and I were little, we told the neighbor kids a story about this 'Little Blue boy', who was this orphaned boy who's parents abondanded him because he had blue skin. He was jealous of other kids with families so he was going around killing kids so he could take their place.

We worked on our story for weeks. Finally, when their mom left them with a babysitter, we got blue chalk, got it wet and made a paste, and painted our youngest sister (who was probably 4) from head to toe. Then dressed her in our most 'boy' clothes and sent her over to the neighbors. She had no idea what we were doing, so she just stood outside their window, looking in the house.

The neighbor kids saw her and freaked out and called 911 (something we did not expect!). We ended up having to confess our joke and got yelled at, not only by our parents but a lecture from the police too.

My Dad now admits after we were sent to our rooms, he and the poilce had a good laugh about our creativity and how long we were able to keep the story going.

When I was in grade school (can't remember exactly how old I was/which grade) my sister and I were latchkey kids at one point (she is older than me). My father had to work a lot so my sister and I had a lot of chores that we split up. We had just gotten a new vacuum cleaner and since we did the vacuuming most of the time we were excited to try it out. So before school we decided to pour out an entire box of Lucky Charms all over the living room carpet and take turns seeing how good this new vac was. Well, the marshmallows melted as the vacuum tried to suck them up and ruined the brand new vac! Ooops!

Not funny in the moment but pretty funny shortly after.

I love this question. These are great stories!

One worth sharing even though it was done by my cousins. My mom' sister has three boys and one time they were home alone and playing with boxing gloves. The gloves were sweaty and so they put some baby powder in them to make it easier to get their hands in and out. Then they realized that each time they gave a punch, a white cloud came out of the glove. So then they filled the gloves and went to town. When their parents came home they could hardly see across the room because of the haze. Then the powder settled on EVERYTHING.

I can't come up with anything I did. I'll get back to you if I do.

Amber, I applaud the creativity of you and your siblings. Feel kinda sorry for your sister who wasn't in the know and became the blue boy LOL!
