    Default RQOT- Weekend edition

Okay all, its my final go at RQOD and I'm stuck...I don't know how you ladies do this everyday

What is your favourite plant in your garden?
Do you have any "challenging" plants?
Do you like to garden or is it something you do because you have to to maintain your property?

I have absolutely no idea what any of the plants in our flower beds are. None. They didn't give us any info on them when we moved here in March and after years of desert life these southern things seem foreign.
Since we can't take any of their things out, I have no desire to do anything here. I just keep it up so we don't get written up and yelled at by DH's commander. lol

What is this? I'm sure it's something common since base housing is cheap with their stuff. It's the only thing I've seen flower so far!

That's a day lily. They are nice because they are perennial, easy maintenance. Just deadhead it. Let leaves lie over the winter (if you get one, I cannot remember) and cut back once new sprouts appear.

Yep, Day Lilly. Those are pretty easy, drought tolerant plants. Jus give it some water once a week or so during dry spells.

What is your favourite plant in your garden? Right now my dahilas. They are doing quite well and are so pretty.
Do you have any "challenging" plants?
We have a challanging corner. Nothing seems to grow in there. We jsut planted it with some drought tolerant stuff like Lavender and grasses and day lillies. The day lillis are from a couple years ago and are managing to stay alive, but everything else is iffy. I don't know what that corners deal is.
Do you like to garden or is it something you do because you have to to maintain your property? Like my house to look pretty, but if I could afford to have someone come in and keep my landscaping looking nice, I would. I don't think I'm quite the right person for the job.

What is your favourite plant in your garden? As of today, I'm excited to see that my hydrangeas have taken off! I received the hydrangeas as a gift (was used as decor) at my baby shower with J. 4 years later, they are really taking off! I love it!
Do you have any "challenging" plants? The soil in my area is not the best. Last year, we took out our canna's and now on our bank we have a lot of mini-fruit plants, which I love! We've been able to produce lemons, limes, oranges, and blueberries. We were unsuccessful with the grapes and kiwi's. Our new plants this season are avocado and apple. I was bummed that our hibiscus also did not thrive as well on our bank. Oh well!
Do you like to garden or is it something you do because you have to to maintain your property? I don't have a green thumb at all. I will be planting some annual's this week only to add some color to the front before J's bday party, but other than that, we have a landscaper that comes every other week to maintain our yard.
Mommy to 2 amazing little boys!

What is your favourite plant in your garden? Phlocks. I just love them! However. Last year and this, almost as soon as they are full of flowers, a skunk that likes to hang out in our yard eats every single flower off (of every flowering plant I have). So annoying. Since those are ugly now, I'll go with the pumpkins we planted. The kids and I go check on them every day to watch them grow.
Do you have any "challenging" plants? No
Do you like to garden or is it something you do because you have to to maintain your property? I like it. Wish I had more time. Maybe next summer. lol

Thank you so much for taking the questions this week, Nicole!!

Love my hydrangea plant! I don't have any challenging plants right now but I also don't spend much time gardening.

Nicole - thanks for doing questions last week!!!
