RQOTD - Monday

If you had to get rid of one monthly service that you are currently paying for which would you choose and why?

We would probably get rid of our land line. Yes, we still have a land line. Biggrin Mostly, it is because we want to make sure we have a backup in case there is an emergency or cell towers go down.

Well, we just finished a year without cable. DH is glad that is over Smile I would also get rid of our landline...however we don't get cell reception in the rear part of our house...so we are sticking with it for now.

Ours would be the landline too. In fact, I though we did get rid of it when our alarm company was able to use cell phones. It freaked me out a bit when I heard it ringing one day because I was sure it was gone! :biglaugh:

It's a pretty bare bones line so it doesn't cost too much, but I NEVER answer it. Most the time I have the ringer turned off because it would wake the kids during naps and anyone who needed to get a hold of me would use my cell phone. I never make calls from it either. DH likes having it around though, ya know...for the whole 3 days a month he is actually in town. Wink

DirecTV. Right now our service is on hold and we'll get it back when we move to NC. Though if we got rid of that I'd have to pick up Hulu Plus or something because Netflix instant watch alone isn't cutting it currently for me. We have another 9 months left on our contract with DirecTV. We're debating about what to do with it when that time comes.

People still have land lines?! Wink Pretty much the only "extras" we have are cell phones, Netflix (just instant watch), internet, and DirecTV.

nak
we don't have any extras right now besides our cell phones. we couldn't cancel those because we don't have a land line. we recently cancelled our directv and i don't miss it one bit.

Ditto. We have a land line for our alarm company and our internet router (I think?). I have the ringer turned off and only know if someone is calling b/c I hear the answering machine pick up the call. No one we want to talk to would ever call us on that line. The most annoying thing is we get weekly calls from some fax. I have tried to call the number back but a fax picks up. You would think whoever is trying to fax to us would have noticed by now that it's not getting to whoever they want it to get to.

We decided over the Summer that we would cancel our cable and see if we missed it. So far, we really don't. So I am glad that is an extra $100 I do not have going to the cable company. Now if I could just figure out a way to not have to pay for Internet. Hee hee!

Cable - the TV is on way too much for my taste in our house.

Hmmmm, IDK. I guess it would be our landline, too. We pay too much every month for so many things that are unnecessary!!
