RQOTD - Monday

I know we've done pet peeves before but let's take a new angle...

Have you discovered any new pet peeves since becoming a mother?

That DH can never seem to throw dirty diapers away. I come home from work and find a diaper on her dresser or sitting on the bathroom counter...really? How hard is it to throw the thing away?

I'm getting really annoyed by people thinking that DS can't walk just because I baby wear him when at the store. I've gotten comments behind my back a few times recently. I want to scream at them that the reason I wear is because he walks so well.

My husband tries to get out of changing a diaper by telling me how many diapers he's changed that week. As if the number 5 will be impressive to me.

This is more of a vent than a pet peeve but DH's mom called this weekend and said the only thing she wanted for Mother's Day was a card from Jordan. What? I thought I was Jordan's mother.

This is sort of general but when you are pregnant or a mother, it's like people feel there are no boundaries as to what they can ask you or what advice they give you. I haven't had too many experiences with people crossing the line but I've been shocked to hear what some other mother's have had to deal with.

My other big one is reckless drivers. I am trying to keep my family safe and people are driving like complete idiots all around me. If I could avoid them, I would. Unfortunately, there are not separate roads for the people who don't care if they die behind the wheel.

Hmmm, my kid has been driving me crazy lately, does that count? When I'm reprimanding her for something she gets this little smirk on her face and it makes me understand why people choose to spank (I don't, for the record)...it is SO infuriating. She has been so naughty lately. Three and a half is for the birds.

Joy, that is what Jordan does to me now. She will not only smile, but laugh. I try to convey how serious I am but she just continues to find it funny. When people say three is harder than two, it worries me.

Kayla, Daphne did it before too, but now she's just so sneaky and defiant that it irks me even more. It's like she does it because she knows it makes me crazy. I'm counting down to 4. It's supposed to get better then, right?

I'll let you know if 4 is better...it best be or Alicia might not make 5 Wink

My biggest pet peeve since becoming a mother is MIL and Alicia's hair. Whatever I do with it, she feels she has to re-do. She came to brunch on Sunday. I had combed Alicia's hair and she said she didn't want it up. Fine. When MIL came in, she immediately when to Alicia's room and then started on, where's the comb, where are the barettes, the elastics etc. She finally lets up when Alicia has this massive up-do done. Sigh. Drives me insane. I finally cut DJ's hair because so many people commented on his crazy curls. I loved them. He's still cute, but sigh, I miss the crazy curls.

Joy- I totally wrote my biggest pet peever was my kids, but then erased it because I didn't want it to come off wrong. Blum 3 Glad you would have understood. I agree, I can totally see how people can be quick to spank. I don't use corporal punishment either, but man! There are there times where the kids drive me right to the edge.

As far as other people, now that I'm a parent, I notice all the unsafe things people do with their kids that just shock me. The thing that gets me the most is when I see people smoking with their small child in the car. Selfish bastards!! Sad

Let's see....

When I ask my DH for help with the twins and he comes upstairs moves them to a location (like their bedroom) and goes back downstairs. Umm...when I said I needed help, I meant can you clothe/diaper/read a book to one of them? Seriously??? I just make the girls start yelling down the stairs to him. Bwahaha...then he has to trudge back up. Lol

Don't get me started on people smoking in their cars wtih small children riding with them... It infuriaties me.

As for age 3, I cannot really remember much, other than I felt (and still feel) that parenting kept getting better and better. I still miss Isaiah's adorable innocence from ages 2-4, but I love the other things I can do with him now. My girls are super cute, but they are also super hard. I have been working really hard on using some different techniques with them because it is very different managing two at once. Sarafina has a knack for coloring on the walls when I am not looking. She makes sure I am busy with Keira too. Sneaky, sneaky. Sometimes, I don't notice it for days because she colors really light and makes really small circles. Just the other day, I went to get something from a cupboard and notices some red circles on it. Really? I would take the darn crayons away, except I need them to keep the girls busy while I make dinner at night. If you came to my house at dinnertime, you would think I owned a zoo. Wow!

Okay, today I'll be jumping on the bandwagon of my child being my pet peeve. I don't think there is a single battle we haven't fought today. She has resisted every diaper change (meaning running away and hiding), refused to leave the dog alone, kicked at me while I'm trying to get her dressed or change her diaper, says she is done eating but cries when I take the food away (repeat 3 times) and fought our nap routine every step of the way. I hate days like this. It makes me question how I'm handling everything and I just want to get away for some "me time", which is basically impossible. I wish I had someone on stand by on days like this. Having my mom near by would be great on days like today.

THIS. Though my big one isn't smoking in the car but car seats. Like the wife around the corner who insisted that it was best to turn her 10 month old to forward facing because he was practically 1 and 20 lbs which is when you're required to turn them around. WTF.

Uhhh...yeah, that would be my day yesterday and today. I miss wine times like these. Greatly.
