Did you have a childhood nickname? What was it? How did it come about? Does anyone still call you that nickname?

No. And I was really sad about it growing up. lol! My sisters all have names that can be shortened and I don't. It didn't help that I didn't like my name. I wanted something more classic. I'm over it all now...kinda.

My parents called me Boo Bear when I was a baby. No idea why. Glad that didn't continue.
Some of my friends back home and my immediate family call me Jack which started about 15 years ago.
Jackie is a nickname that I hate, but have gotten over. Apparently my parents had no intention of calling me Jackie, but everyone else called me Jackie as a baby and they never corrected them. My real name is Jacquline.

I did not really have a childhood nickname. Many of my friends called me Mel, but it hasn't really stuck around. My DH sometimes called me Mellie. My parents were very firm about not giving me a nickname, so they never called me anything, but Melanie.

On a side note, I always wonder if Sarafina will shorten her name to Sara or want people to call her Sarafina. Of course, I think Sarafina is just really beautiful, but I never know if she will love it or hate it. Isaiah is called Zay as a nickname, which is very common. He is starting to hate that though. He once told me to stop calling him that. It made me sad. It is a habit, so we still do it. Oh, and my dad's name is John, but his parents called him Butch. He hates it. My mom and I don't call him that, but his family still does. So, whenver we go visit , all we hear is Butch this and Butch that. When I was little, I remember asking who Butch was.

My big sister called me Gag. No idea why but thankfully she does not call me that anymore. My brothers however still call me Krispy.

Well, when we were kids, we used to call each other:
Dan = E-dane-e
Alex = Al-a-Pew
Joy = Joy-si-loo

My brothers still call me that. There's also a special, irritating voice in which all the nicknames need to be said. Ha. Makes me smile just thinking about it. My brother Alex flew into Austin last night for work and he's coming to meet his new nephew tonight. Alapew!

My family (and my boss annoyingly) calls me Nikki. Growing up I had any number of nicknames:

nardo (bernardo) - that was lost after Paul Bernardo was caught and convicted.

My mom had intended on calling me Jenny but never did - I'm glad, it does't suit me at all. I went by J.P. in school because there were so many Jennifer's and Carrie (SID08110 still calls me that. Most people call me Jennifer or Jenn. I like Jenn.

The only nickname I have is my dad (and only my dad) calls me his littlest angel. I know it's cheesy, but I've always loved it. When I was about eight, one of my friends called my Kay-Kay for like a week. Yeah, I put a stop to that pretty quick.
