RQOTD - Thursday

When was the last time you did volunteer work? What did you do?

I recently volunteered for Loaves and Fishes (the Meals on Wheels people) for their donate a dinner program. I stood at the grocery and asked shoppers to please donate a dinner for a home bound senior. It was actually a lot of fun and for the most part people were very receptive. There were a few people that looked at us like we were secretly plotting to take over the universe one home bound senior at a time but all in all it was a good experience.

It's been a long time, before kids. Sad it was probably for MDA camp. Before kids, I would be a counselor for a week. It was a lot of fun!

Mine was before kids too but also at my job. I went on many trips and events that weren't part of my salary but considered volunteer time.

I'm sad to say it's been a while since I did any volunteering. Years. I've been charitable in other ways.

Same here. We do a lot to give things to people in need. I hope to start doing some volunteering with Isaiah.

I've helped out with a couple of base events when we were at Nellis. Haven't done anything here. I did a ton back when I lived in TN though. I worked handing out food to the homeless once a week downtown, I did two events a year at Ronald McDonald House, and tons more. I was busy! I never realized until this question how much that aspect of me has changed, and not for the better. I'll have to find something to get busy with when we get to NC. Smile

From when we moved to Austin in 2007 until Daphne was born in 12/08 I volunteered at a local hospital in the newborn nursery. It was really fun. I basically worked as a tech.

Sad Sore subject with me right now. I have offered to volunteer at two charities close to my heart in the past couple months and so far neither have called to take me up on it. I thought for sure the holiday time would be a good time to offer. What do I know!
