RQOTD - Thursday

Any vacation plans this year? Anything else going on this year you are really looking forward to?

I suspect we are a few years from any vacations. Jordan still does not sleep much when we travel. I hope, at the very least, we can go to see family at Christmas.

This year I am looking forward to becoming a family of four and hopefully finding a new home for us. The thought of moving is overwhelming at times, but also very exciting.

We are going to Wasaga beach for 5 days. And I think we are going to try camping in Algonquin park for 5 days this summer. Otherwise the things I am looking forward to are: Alicia staring Kindergarten; finishing up the upstairs renovations; my garden and time at our beach this summer.

Kayla- Are you really house shopping? I didn't know if you were just dreaming about it, or it was really happening. Is your current house on the market now? I'd love to move too, but we're stupidly unside down on our house. We bought it at the peak of the housing market and we'd take a pretty big hit to sell now. Oh well. I do like our community and the house itself. I would just prefer less trashy neighbors. The family next door has like 20 people living there. They're quiet (most the time) but during the summer they have an older uncle who comes visit and he creeps me out. He stands over his deck watching the kids. He seems nice enough, but it makes me uneasy. Plus, I'd like to live in a neighborhood with families more like ours. It would be nice for the kids to have friends their age close to home and be able to ride bikes to a playground. Anyways. I digress.

As for the question on hand, we have a couple things coming up. We are going to Mexico (Rivier Maya) with some friends in April. I am crazy excited about it! We also are going to Seattle in July for a wedding from an old high school friend of G's. G and Ava are going to be in the wedding party. I'm super excited to see Ava as a flower girl. Plus this summer we'll have several camping trips with friends and their kiddos. It should be a pretty fun year for us. Smile

We have our annual crabbing trip with the in-laws planned for June. But other than that, not sure what else we have going on. My father-in-law just bought a bigger plane so I am sure we will have a few weekend trips here and there.

No real vacations planned since DH can't take leave again until he finishes the next phase of training next December. He will get a couple of 4 day weekends with holidays so we might try to go camping or to the beach 2 hours away.
The closest I'll have to a vacation is my sister is flying to spend a week with us in June and then I'm driving us back home where I'll visit both sets of parents and go to a friend's wedding. Not much of an actual vacation though. lol

We do not have a vacation planned right now. If we do plan something, it will be something close to our house. I keep hoping to get to my parents house to visit, but we are so busy. I was thinking about going over my spring break, but Isaiah cannot go because he spring break is a lot earlier than mine. I don't want him to feel left out. So, that is not happening.

We are planning to go to Disney in 2013 maybe. We want to go for our 15th wedding anniversary and take the kids. I am not sure that the girls will be quite as old as I want them to be for their first trip. We shall see. Biggrin

As for this year, Isaiah's First Communion is in April. I am just looking forward to spending the summer with my kids at the pool. I am praying it is a little easier this year than it has been the past two years. *fingers crossed*

I cannot wait until our kids are old enough to take family vacations. I miss getting to see new places. I'm so glad that Jason and I had time to travel before we had kids because we have some wonderful memories. We've eaten in an English pub, walked the streets of London, watched the sunrise from the top of a volcano in Hawaii, fed sting rays and snorkeled in some of the most beautiful waters, ate pizza in Chicago, and the list goes on. I am very grateful for all of it!

We just got serious about it in the last couple of weeks. We can thank our new, loud neighbors for being that push we needed to start looking. This morning I was once again awoken by a motorcycle being revved up for five minutes and I am not sleeping that well to begin with. It's frustrating. Last weekend we left Jordan with my sister and BIL so we could drive around some neighborhoods. We looked at an area that is very close to my sisters and we also looked at an area that is about 35 minutes away, which is about 5 more minutes of driving time than we have now. I really hate living as far as we do. We hit traffic so much of the time and it would be so great to live within 10 minutes of them. However, if we move to the area that is further away, we could move into a brand new house on an acre lot. The decision is not going to be easy. Of course all of this is also dependent on selling our house. Thankfully, the people who sold this house to us had inherited a home and land so they were not looking to make a lot of money. We are hoping we can sell our house for about what we bought it for. Texas has weathered the housing bubble much better than most of the country and we are grateful for that. Otherwise, moving would not be an option.

ETA: I would be creeped out by someone watching my kids play too. That's a little strange if you do not know the person.
