What type of laundry detergent do you use? How do you treat stains?

I make my own laundry detergent. For stains, I use spray and wash or oxiclean, depending on the type of stain. I soak o/n in some water/stain remover and then launder as per normal.

We use either Tide Free or All Free and Clear. I don't do much with stains. I treat them as soon as possible, but I don't do anything after that. I just wash the clothes with the regular load. With Isaiah, I made myself crazy over stains. I would pre-treat right away or even wash a super small load just to make sure I did everything possible to get the stain out. With the twins, I am pretty laid back.

We use Gain...mainly just because I like the smell! For stains I use Oxy-Clean or Awesome.

I love the smell of Gain too! But it does not do well with our HE washer. Sad So we use Tide. I also am obessesed with fabric softener. I use it on almost everything, plus dryer sheets. I also use Oxi-clean in the wash in addition to detergent when I really want to boost the smell. Soap is my favorite scent! Mmmmmmm!

For stain treating.... I don't really do anything to treat them. If they don't come out in the wash then oh well. I do use peroxide on blood stains I get at work, but generally those are treated at the hospital when it happens.

Arm and Hammer Free and Clear currently b/c it's what DH bought last time. I don't really care as long as it's a free and clear version. We don't do anything special for stains. We throw oxyclean in with every load of clothes and that takes care of 99% of Aiden's messes. Wink

We don't use any dryer sheets or fabric softer, but rather use vinegar in the wash (put it in the fabric softer cup). Seriously don't notice a single difference! To me no smell is clean.

I use Purex Free and Clear. I use Resolve Spray and Wash if need be for stains.

We also use Purex. Although my mom just sent me home with a Purex 3-in-1 laundry sheet she wants me to try because she's fallen in love with it. For stains I've been using the Dreft stain remover, and if that doesn't work I put some Dawn dish soap in it and let it sit for a day or so. Vivi has been staining all of her clothes with all of her BLOWOUTS! Hoping to get them out in the sun, soon. That usually works.

We do not use dryer sheets or fabric softener either. We use vinegar on occasion, but not with every load. We try not to use the sheets or softener because it can increase the flammability of clothing and it tends to make your towels absorb less water. Plus, Isaiah is pretty sensitive, so we try not to use anything with a smell. I am so used to no smell that even regular Tide smells very strong to me. Biggrin

You're completely right about the towels! We've noticed a BIG improvement with all of ours. Smile
