What are your in-laws like? Do you get along well with them? How far away do they live? How often do you see them?
They're old (they're the same age as my grandmother). We didn't have much to say to each other till Aiden was born. They're great grandparents at least...usually. They live 20 minutes from my parents, about 15 hours drive from our current location. There's no pattern to our visits to them or them visiting us. They came to see us in September for a few days for DH's graduation. I'll briefly see them in three weeks when I drive home to celebrate Aiden's birthday with friends and family (don't get me started on how they're only attending one hour of Aiden's 1st birthday party b/c she wants to be at church 90 minutes before mass starts).
My IL's are pretty laid back people. To a fault on some things, I think. I get along fairly well with them but I'm certainly not their favorite DIL. I'm opinionated and will say something if it bothers me. The tend to be the sweep it under the rug type. We're learning to get along better.
They live about 30 minutes away from us, in the Mountains where G and I grew up. They see the kids more now than they use to. I had to have a talk with my MIL about our (hers and mine) expectations on how often they would see the kids. They were not too involved for a while and it bothered me. I grew up spending a lot of time with my Grandparents and I wanted my IL's to be involved with my kids. MIL said she wasn't sure what kind of relationship to have with Grand kidsbecause she did not know her Grandparents and her children rarely saw theirs. Since then she and I have both done a better job of keeping them involved with the kids. And, I secretly think they like how I shake things up for them.
I like my MIL and FIL. We get along very well. They live about 15 minutes away. We see them at least once a week, sometimes more often. They help a lot with child care, so sometimes I see them almost daily.

I love my mom-a-law. She is so sweet and we get along great. She is also a good wine drinking partner! Hee hee!! My father-in-law on the other hand, although he is a very nice person he drives me insane because he.never.stops.talking. Ever. About the most random crap ever. He talked for three hours about the difference between dams for power and dams for flood control. ARGH!!!
Kristi, your FIL and my grandma need to meet. They could drive eachother crazy, and maybe then they'd both stop talking quite so much. Thankfully, my grandma is on facebook now (weird), so I can ask her a quick question on there if I don't have an hour to sit on the phone.
My Grandma joined Facebook before I did. She's obviously way more hip than I am.
I love my ILs. They live about 30-40 minutes from us and we see them about 1-2 times a month. They try to come over every two weeks or so if we haven't seen them. My MIL is awesome, she reminds me of my grandma that passed away. You can always find her reading to deacon or playing with him and giving him her full attention. My FIL is a handy man and has helped us so much while we have been in our house.
They both are good about giving us privacy and never imposing on us or asking too many questions. Sometimes I feel like they don't want to be involved and Justin has to remind me that they just prefer for us to come to them so they don't invade our privacy.
I saw this earlier but wasn't logged in and only had a second to lurk. My first thought when I read this question was no wonder Ashley posted this as the weekend question. This could take me all weekend to answer!
But then maybe I'll go Joy's route and say "no comment."
