What would be the very first thing you would do if you won the lottery?
Depends on how much.
If we're talking 2M or less, We'd pay off any bills, buy some land, build a house, get a horse, help out family and save the rest.
If we're talking Powerball size, than we'd go straight to a fiinancial planner to decide the next step.
Well how can I answer after Jenn's!
I'm not really sure. I guess we would buy or build a new house. We are about ready to start looking for a new one and it would be awesome to not have a mortgage.
Pay off what's left on my parent's house, give my sister the money she needs for college, buy DH a new car, and pretty much save the rest. Eventually we'd buy a house with it, but not till we're done moving in 15 years.
We know a guy who won $4 million from a slot machine in Vegas. Other than his nice house and car you'd never know it. He's still working his same job in the military! There is a military clause that allows people to get out if they win one of the big lottos or similar.

Buahahaha! I thought the same thing! How do you follow that? :biglaugh:
Rofl! You guys are funny. It would be the first thing, after I picked myself off the floor. Then I'd buy a new house with acreage, two new cars and put some aside for the kids. Then figure out a way to modestly live off the interest of the rest.
Pay off DH's flight school loans...we still have about 35K left to go (although seeing has how that number was 80K 8 years ago, I don't feel too bad about it). Then we'd probably pay off the mortgages for all of our family members, buy a house and save/invest the rest.
Hmmm....we'd pay off our mortgage and our families, set up trusts for the kids and travel.
Well, quite honestly, the first thing I would do would be plan a nice vacation for the family. Then, I would visit a financial planner. From there, we would probably pay off any debt we have and figure out how to live off the interest. I may still work part-time or something, but if I can find a way to not work and still have money for retirement, that is what I would do. If it was a big lottery win, we would probably give some to Craig's parents for their retirement. My parents are set, so I might just send them on a vacation.
I am sure we would tithe some too, but that is not my first inclination. I can admit that.
I would most certainly pay off all our bills and my student loans. I would also give some to my parents and DH's parents. I would create a trust fund for Alison and my niece Cassidy. I would love to buy some land and build a house.
