What the heck is this?

Over the last week or two I've had these really strange muscle or nerve twinges. I have no idea how to accurately describe it. The first two were a little to the left and just below my rib cage. They both happened when I moved a certain way and made me jump. Tonight I turned toward Jason and had the same thing toward the right side but it was so much stronger. I'm pretty sure a fowl word came out of my mouth and I dumped the laptop on the floor. I thought someone bumped my stomach with their hand. What in the world?

Round ligament pain? I never got it with my DS, but I did with the twins. It happened on occasion if I moved or twisted. Wowza! There were times it shocked me because it was such a sharp pain.

That kind of pain was common in my second pregnancy as well. I had a c-section the first time and had some adhesions that were pulling and loosing as my pregnancy progressed. The good news is they got a lot less frequent once I passed the second trimester. I wonder if that is what is happening to you as well. Sounds too high up for round ligament pain to me.

Yes, it's definitely much higher than the round ligament pain I've experienced. I never thought about it being connected to my c/s. It's not painful really, just strange and always makes me jump because it's very sudden.

I would guess it's just your uterus stretching. Everything is more noticalbe for aches and pains with second pregnancies. 14 weeks now! That's exciting! Gender time is right around the corner. Are you guys going to find out?

Last week we got a guess. Biggrin But until we get one that is more definitive, I am keeping it a secret. According to my OB and Peri, I am actually 14 weeks and 5 days so our gender guess was at just over 13 weeks. It will be interesting to see if they were right.

Ooooo - a guess on the sex! That had to have been exciting even though you know it's too early to know for sure. Biggrin I can't believe you're 14 weeks now. Wow! Smile

I love this response Amber! LOL

I remember those weird pains too. However, when I would ask my ob his standard response was "could be anything really". UGH! He usually likes to pawn all my aches and pains off on the prior csection scarring.

Hey Kayla. I am wondering if maybe it is gas pains. I remember when I was pregnant I had this horrible pain way up high and couldn't think that it could be gas...until I broke wind. DH even heard it from across the house. He yelled "feel better"? And actually I did! HAHA!

Amber - I just realized I spilled the beans on my BB so I guess it's not a very well kept secret. Lol

The guess is.... :cloud9: Does this mean we are friends again? Wink (ETA - No FB comments please!)

My EDD according my my ovulation day was July 4th. However, my OB and Peri's ultrasounds say my due date is July 30th.

Jenn - I never had this last time but I know every pregnancy is different. Maybe it does have to do with my c/s and that would explain it being a new thing.

Kristi - It's definitely not gas. It's a very sudden spasm of a nerve or muscle. It's really hard to describe! But last night I could have sworn that something hit me in the stomach and it freaked me out. Hence the laptop flying out of my lap, lol.

How close are you to choosing names, Kayla? When you do will you be sharing them? Exciting to hear if they are right about another girl! Your pregnancy is flying by for me! I don't have any new suggestions for what you are experiencing.

Another girl! That could be fun. I like boys too though. Biggrin Having two girls is a lot of drama. Biggrin Although, as my mom says, girls are more likely to call home and stay in touch with their moms when they are adults. You have that to look forward to once you survive the teen years. Acute

As for the pain, I agree that it could be anything really. Organs shifting, c/s scar tissue, gas, muscles stretching, etc. There are lot of weird things that happen during pregnancy that you cannot really explain. Biggrin I did have that feeling once when I was not pregnant. It was weird. I was driving in my car and all of a sudden it felt like someone punched me on the left side. I have a feeling it was something to do with my bowel. They are all twisted around in there and that uterus is pushing them around, so it could be that. I would have thought it was muscular if I didn't know that the location was kind of wrong for that kind of pain. So, who knows? I hope it doesn't happen to often though.

I was so convinced I was having a boy when I was pregnant with Jordan. We all know how that turned out.

I really have had no particular feeling one way or the other! It's strange because last time I felt like I knew. Maybe that experience taught me not to trust that particular instinct. Wink

We haven't even started talking about names. I am ready to start looking through the books but I don't think we will even really discuss any until we have another u/s. I will probably share our ideas here but maybe not right away to the rest of the world.

I love the idea of Jordan having a sister. Of course a brother would be great too. I guess I just think about how close I am to my sisters and how they are two of my best friends. It would be great for Jordan to get to experience that as well. Oh well, we will see!

As far as the weird spasms, the nurse thinks it's the ligaments around the top of my uterus. Like Amber had mentioned, they are more loose now so I guess you are more sensitive to things like that the second time around. I was just more curious than anything. It's such a freaky feeling, I wanted to have an idea of what it was.

Amber is a very nice name. Just throwing it out there. Wink

If I remember correct you guys favor gender neutral names, right?

It is a nice name. My best friend's name is Amber. Smile

I really do like gender neutral names for girls in particular. I was telling Jason today that I came across a name and liked it but worried if we had two neutral or boy sounding names that we would confuse people when we showed up with two girls, lol. So I'm wondering if we should go a little more girly this time.

I have a small list going of maybes. Off the top of my head - Cameron, Carly, Molly and Maggie. Jason pretty much turned all of them down except for Cameron.
