Would love some positive T&P's! - UPDATE

T had an audiological evaluation today and the outcome revealed a mild hearing loss in one ear and a moderate loss in the other. I received a referral for an ENT and will be scheduling that appt tomorrow. The dr's will be further investigating whether or not there is something external (fluid) interfering with his outer/middle ear possibly due to his ear infections this past year. If that is the case, we may be able to resolve the hearing loss through fixing whatever the problem is via medication or tubes. But my concern is that when they tested his inner ear, the audiologist had some difficulty. She then ended the test and resolved her difficulties to the fact that he was just 2. IDK. I'm praying it is only a temporary loss, but as the mommy, I worry. And even though tubes are common, the thought of surgery on my baby makes me cringe.I have to say; however, that I am super proud of my little guy. Not only did he sit for the full 30+ minute evaluation, he truly is making a TON of progress with his language development. It's his speech that is suffering and he tries so hard. I feel so bad. I haven't shared a lot, but I pushed for this evaluation based on my own observations and I have to say that I am glad I did. Anyways, I'm anxious to get the next evaluation done with as I really want to find out their results.... Thanks for letting me share this with you guys and thanks for any positive T&P's you could spare as we go through this process!

UPDATE:
We went to see the ENT this week and the results were pretty inconclusive. We opted to get tubes as that is our next possible intervention. Crazy thing is we got a call yesterday that there was a cancellation for surgery today so we took it. He had his surgery this morning and things went very well. He's been asleep since we got home. He was hungry and exhausted afterwards. We are just praying that this is what T needed to resolve his hearing loss! We will have another hearing test in 1-2 months. (And, I just want to add that Children's Hosp is amazing! They do so many neat things for kids to comfort them...they gave T toys at registration, the nurses played bubbles with him, and in recovery he rec'd a popsicle and a nice new set of blocks to take home :) They were all so nice! )

Oh wow! Definitely sending some positive vibes and prayers y'alls way that it's something that can be easily resolved.

Oh no! I hope it's something that can be fixed and not permanent hearing loss. Bummed you have to wait a bit yet for the next appt! I hope you'll be able to get those results soon. It's hard not to worry when it's something with our babies...that's our job. Glad you pushed for the tests now, when he's so young! Keep us posted. :bighug:

Wow, T&P coming your way. I'm glad you insisted on the testing and I hope that it is easily resolved with tubes. That surgery is quick and easy, I've heard.

Good luck! My T&Ps are with you. I am glad you insisted on further evaluation. Our intuition is rarely wrong. I hope the appt with the ENT goes well. Keep us posted on what the ENT has to say.

Definitely sending T&P's your way. It doesn't matter how big or how small, we worry about our kids. I guess it just comes with the territory. I really hope it ends up being something minor and fixable. KUP of course.

He is really into music and the Imagination Movers. We took him up to LA for a concert last month and ever since then, he's been obsessed with watching the concert DVDs, playing the drums, playing his guitar and singing in his microphone. He also loves dancing :) He's really into reading, too. He's becoming more and more interested in a variety of books (vs. the same books over and over!) He loves to run, play and interact with everyone....well, almost everyone... tonight we took the boys to see Santa (early, yes... but no lines!) and boy oh boy, was he upset! He did not want to talk to "tanta", not even to tell him that he wants a "bootball" (football) for Christmas :)

How cute, Cali! He is growing up so fast! Hope Tanta brings his bootball. :D
