Any input welcome. :) (XP... Lurker.)

Hey girls! (hope you don't mind me posting here! I know you girls have lots of experience!)
So, I was wondering if anyone would know of anything that could be wrong when AF is super irregular. One time my cycle was 79 days... then it went back to 33 days-35 days. Last month it was 38 days... and right now im on CD 45 and NOTHING. My old OBGYN moved to california, so when I had that 79 day cycle, I made an appointment with a new dr, but all she could tell me is that I wasn't pregnant (I wasn't trying at the time) and that they usually wait a couple more weeks to worry about anything being wrong. I never went back to her again, but I did make an appointment for a new OBGYN that my MIL and coworker both go to. He couldn't get me in until December 10th though. Any input is welcome, just wondering what could be wrong. I know that when I was younger I had some cysts on my ovaries, but the dr. at the time said it was normal for women to have them come and go. I don't know, I just would like to hear some real situations.

There's a few reasons. The most common is PCOS. I was told i was a 'classic example' of PCOS. But now my dr thinks it's something else... My cycles are insanely wacky too. I have gone 9 mos without one (not one of the times i was pregnant).... It's frustrating. And certainly not easy to ttc!!!

Did you have a hard time with the one small guy you have now?

I'm sorry you are going through this. I remember being very frustrated when I was first ttc and was dealing with long irregular cycles like you are describing. I was on birth control pills for about six years after my daughter was born (who I conceived with my ex without any problems, infact she was my surprise blessing). Turns out for me I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). I had the odd cyst on my ovaries that cleared up on their own in the past. I was told the same thing, that they are normal and just go away on their own. It is true, but can be a sign of something else. I don't have the classic string of pearls cysts, I just got the odd cyst whenever I had an annovulatory cycle (among other symptoms of PCOS like insulin resistance). Now, I have a friend who had long and irregular cycles but was never diagnosed with anything. She was given Clomid and that worked to help her conceive three children. I'm sorry you have to wait until early December for your appointment. I hope that you are able to get some answers soon.

Sounds like PCOS to me. The longest between cycles was 6 months and I was 16, I knew I was not pregnant and had to go back into my journal to figure out when my last AF had been. That first cyst was the size of an orange and it ruptured Christmas eve. Was not fun at all!

The other thing it could be in endometriosis. Do you have severely painful periods? Do you have any other symptoms?

Classic PCOS symptoms are being extra fluffy, facial hair (dark), possible hair on breasts and stomach, irregular cycles...

Thanks guys. I was reading about PCOS a couple of months ago and thought that could be it.. we will see. Can you still conceive with PCOS? Just a harder time?

Yup, you can conceive with PCOS. Robbie is my miracle baby (he hates being called baby at 7 years old), I got my positive the day before I had my appointment to look at fertility drug options. I was on metformin for my diabetes (at that time still insulin resistance) and that was it. I got the positive on day 53 of my cycle.
