Default Anyone else making plans for IVF?

Now that I know I have low ovarian reserve and my odds of conception with IUI are very low, DH and I are planning for IVF this summer. Of course we'll try some more IUI's on the way there, but we have little optimism in our 2% IUI likelihood. I know that everyone on here as had a journey, so is anyone else planning an IVF soon? Does anyone else see this as their next (practical) hope? I'm scared as hell about the whole gamble. What will I do if/when IVF fails?

I don't see any more IVF cycles in my future (can't handle any more emotionally or financially), but I'll be stalking you! My birth board group moved on to FB and I was just chatting with them last night about contacting my RE again tomorrow. AF started yesterday. With good eggs, your chances of success with IVF are around 60%.I don't know why, but I always think of my chances of success in terms of weather forecasts. If someone told me there was a 60% chance of rain I would carry an umbrella. So glad your sister is willing (and able) and donate eggs to you!

Yes, we are in the process of starting IVF right now. After seeking two opinions who said the same thing, we are skipping IUI's altogether. I've been hanging out on the IVF board too, come on over! There is someone there who is starting a cycle using donor eggs right now.

Also, FYI. I've been on another message board and there is a lot of talk there about using alternative therapies for POF. I don't remember if anyone has talked about that much here, but it seems like there are some that have had some success with acupuncture and herbal therapies. Not sure if that is with or without traditional fertility treatments, but might be worth looking into. I like the idea of holistic treatment but I don't think its very useful in my situation, although I am getting acupuncture treatments.

I have DOR and I'm a supporter of using Chinese medicine (acupuncture and herbs). Acupuncture is the only "alternative" therapy to increase fertility treatment that has much support in scientific literature. If/when I go back to the RE, I will start acupuncture again, too.

I'm mainly over on the IVF boards and am about to start our 2nd IVF (FET). Our 1st one in November failed and it nearly killed me. The odds are in your favor that it will work but there is the chance that it won't. But that's the way it is with everything I suppose - the greater the risk, the higher the reward. That's incredible that your sister is willing to donate her eggs. Good luck with it all! It's a scary process at first but then it becomes very exciting very quickly.
