Default Bad test - Upset. Have questions.

    Hi all.
My blood work came back. My progesterone was at 2.7.
The doctor says I did NOT ovulate. But my chart looks SOOO great. And I had all those symptoms that are not what I would normally have with my normal annovulatory cycles.

I don't understand. I'm very upset. I was so sure this was helping me and that my chart said I ovulated. I even got the def pos opk. The doctor said to try for another month and see if it does next time.

How could my chart have such nice spikes and not have ovulated?? Has anyone tried clomid, and not have it work, but still get the symptoms? Does it ever work at the same dose the second month, when it didn't work the first? Why wouldn't he want to increase my dosage if it's not working?

I just wanted to say that you know your body better thatn anyone else. Doctors have told me that according to the ultrasound I didn't ovulate, but my body was telling me I did, then send me for progesterone tests and I did in fact ovulate. Sometimes they just don't know. Trust your body.

    Thanks ladies

I guess a better question is how will I know when I DO ovulate if my chart AND the opk's are wrong? He said he doesn't need to do blook work next month, we will just see. Well then how in god's green earth will I know next month then??

Do you have any symptoms after you Ovulate. For example my chest gets tender. That is my first clue. Maybe you can go off of something like that. With Clomid, I have to take 100mg to Ovulate by CD16 but if I don't take the clomid then I Ovulate at around day 16-18, So it's kinda a waste for me. I haven't taken clomid in 6 months and this is the first month I ovulated at a decent time.

I haven't ovulated at all without Clomid from my charting (as best as I can tell). I did a couple of months with bloodwork with my md, and those showed nothing too. So I have no idea about symptoms for me really. I got a ton of symptoms this month. I was sure that meant it was working and I O'd.

I'm sorry you're going through this. Honestly, I don't know what to say about your situation because I have charted for a while now and I've had my share of annovulatory cycles, but they always showed clearly in my charts as annovulatory. I just feel like you are right in saying that you o'd. I know that there are some pre-ovulation temps above the cover line, but they are all open temps (so I'm assuming you woke up at a different time?) and you have enough temps below the cover line to determine the pattern.

I know a lot of doctors don't really give due credit to charting, which is kind of disappointing. I'm also wondering when you had the blood tests done? Progesterone levels rise after ovulation and start falling about 9 days after if the egg hasn't been fertilized.

Anyway, I just wanted to throw my two cents in to let you know that you have every right to be frustrated, and I hope you get real answers soon.

Progesterone rises from the Corpus Luteum, which is the....shell where the egg came from in the ovary (the wall of the follicle that is leftover). If I recall, you have PCOS (or am I wrong?) If you had multiple follicles, your LH could surge based on the follicles your body thought it might release. However, if you had too many follicles and not enough LH produced, none of those eggs may have "broken" out, thus no ovulation and no progesterone increase. Could you have been sick to explain the temp rise? Are you getting monitoring for the clomid from your doctor? I think you had clomid this cycle, correct? I'm a little distracted today so if I got any facts wrong, I'm sorry. I hope this helps though!

Hi Rachel. Thanks. I understand that... but I haven't been sick, and I've had a week plus of high temps. I don't understand how that can happen?
I am on clomid, my first dr said PCOS, the last two have said they don't think so.

Elizabeth - Thanks too. The blood test was scheduled on the 21st. FF seemed to think I ovulated on CD 15, but I had a bigger temp shift on the 20th.

I couldn't resist. I had to have more questions answered, so I called back to talk with them again. They say that sometimes temping is just 'off' and there is no rhyme or reason as to why my chart is so good when I didn't O. And they don't want to do any blood testing or anything next month. And I need to just 'calm down' because me being so worried about it is going to be a whole other problem. If we add blood testing or monitoring next month, it will just make that 'emotional piece' too stressful for me and be counterproductive. I should just relax through the next three months on the fifty, working or not, and hopefully I will be pregnant.

This makes me mad. I was over analyzing and being annoying. But I was NOT worrying and I was NOT stressed over a blood test. I was super happy that we were moving forward actually. For him to say it's not working, but it's MY fault for stressing, and we are going to keep trying this thing that's not working??

Seriously? Are doctors supposed to do that? I feel so brushed off. Am I wrong to feel upset? Honest opinions, really.
