    Default Guess what?

I spent 3 hours driving home from camping yesterday fuming over some news I received yesterday. There was this whole postI wanted to write but now I just don't even care anymore.

One of my younger sisters, who has a severly disabled 5 yr old child (wheelchair, doesn't walk, talk, has a feeding tube, is partially blind and deaf), is pregnant again.

Ok, maybe I will write a little more....

She dropped out of high school and keeps failing her GED. She is almost illiterate (can't read or write well at all), has no job, and is barely surviving off the benefit she gets to take care of her son. The father is a literal genius (IQ 160) to the point that he's too smart for his own good. Idiot savant I think is the term? He can't hold down a job because he just doesn't understand how too. He's not the father of her first though. They don't know why is wrong with my nephew already as it is, why would she consider another? They suspect that his disability is a combo of bad genetics (his father has another daughter who is also deaf and partially blind) and all the drugs and alcohol she did before she knew she was pregnant. She was probably stupid and did the same thing again.

I would love to know how she is planning on supporting this on too!

I hope this doesn't sound insensitive, but could you ask her to adopt the baby?? It may best for all parties involved or is that too weird?

    UGH! Rach...what a mare!
Was it planned or an accident?
Is it likely she will have another disabled little one?

Are you able to tell her that she is being a fool?
    UGH!
    What a situation!!

I have no idea if it was planned or not as she and I don't speak. She has blamed me for her problems too many times and we just do not get along. I found out from my older sister while we were camping on the weekend.

Adoption wouldn't really work I don't think. Ironically, the father is the younger brother of a good friend of mine in highschool. I wonder if his family knows yet? They are super devout Irish Catholics!

Oh, I wanted to add one more thing. This means that 3 out 4 of our younger siblings will be having babies in the next 6 months (one due any day now, one due in October, one due in December). All of them are jobless or under employed (I just did the calculation in my head - out of 6 of them, mothers and fathers included, only one has a job! Sad huh?), lacking in education (only one had graduated high school and he's not even the one employed! The rest are drop outs), none of them are married (not that this is a huge deal, just pointing it out)....

And here we are, being bugged by our parents and friends because we are the DINKS (double income no kids), WE should be the ones having kids, not all of them!!

I'm so sorry dear, that's so frustrating! My brother-in-law, etc is the same way - neither him or his wife have a job, live with my in-laws and have a 2-year old that gets absolutely no stimulation. I'm sorry that you're going through that again.

Ever see the movie Idiocracy? If not, rent it, it's hysterical.

Seriously, it's a sad sad world sometimes. I just read a story today about the lady who tried to sell her baby for $500 at a Taco Bell. It's beyond me why god, the universe, or whoever is in charge does not make these people sterile. To think, we can't even adopt because it costs so much. I just don't get it...

YES, I saw it too! I see situations like this at work all the time and it is heartbreaking. It is always the ones that either do not have the means or are not stable enough that have all these children. For instance, my next door neighbor is one. He's on his 3rd kid. He's a disaster! (sorry if that sounds insensitive) but it's the truth. He gets women pregnant like it was a hobby, and he finds it hilarious. I just don't understand!!!
