IVF, donor egg cyle (update)(child ment)

Quick update here... we started signing the papers for an IVF donor egg cycle. It's going to cost us appx $25,000 out of pocket. We're okay with this and really hoping we can get to freeze some embryos too to do a future FET cycle. Smile

They offered us PGD which is another $5,000 which will give us gender selection. However, it's more manipulation of eggs and it's something we're unsure of. PGD is not needed on donor eggs because they're already screened for health issues. So it's basically an added expense just for gender. What do you ladies think? Boy, girl, doesn't matter right? We just want a healthy baby and no more losses.

Anyway, I start my "mock" cycle soon as I get AF. Then I have to get some testing done and go on BCP. Since we are not being picky on a donor, I think we'll do this by Christmas, which will be awesome. Smile

LURKING

Congrats on getting everything started! I personally would not opt for the PGD because like you said - its messing with the embryos and why risk that? Not that I've ever heard anything happening during PGD.

You should jump over to the IVF board and hang out during your cycle. Some of the grads there did the same kind of cycle and may have some encouraging things to say.

Good luck!

I'm excited, been TTC 4 years and I'm worn out, haha. I told the girl at the clinic, I'm so done, just get me knocked up already! I still have to get some testing done first, so hopefully that won't drag things out. In a way, I'm glad for testing because of my cancer scares in the past (2 years since my LEEP surgery).

Jenn0113, that's how we feel. We've had enough risks already, why tempt things. I lurk over on the IVF boards & will de-lurk sometime. Smile

Congrats on things moving so fast, that is so awesome!!! I agree with Jenn0113. Personally if it were me I wouldn't want to mess with the embies any further. I wish you the best of luck and will be stalking you!!

How awesome! That's great news! I hope it goes great and you're knocked up soon! Smile

Personally I wouldn't care about the gender...after 3 years TTC for me as long as it was healthy I could care less! Wink
