mom2robbie - I *think* you work for the Government right? I think I've seen you posted that a few times. Did you know that if you went for IVF it could be mostly covered because of that?

From what I understand, if you are a Federal employee in Canada, the group plan with SunLife will cover IVF if you live anywhere else in Canada because of Quebec now covering it. The only exception is Ontario because we have some limited coverage which negates the clause.

Hmmm...I did not know that. Then again I have been off work forever with jaw issues. Will have to check into it, we have said we won't do IVF but that was mostly because of the cost. I know they will cover any fertility drugs.

It's for the Sunlife plan if you are under that Public Employee coverage. I have the link at work, I'll post it tomorrow.

From what I understand there's a clause in the policy that allows you to claim coverage if the same coverage exists in another province. Previously that meant that if you lived outside Ontario, you could still claim the same coverage for 3 paid IVF if you had blocked tubes. Now with Quebec having 3 paid rounds of IVF, people are claiming it under that clause.

What I was reading is that the wording of the policy is clear but Sunlife is still reviewing whether the new Quebec coverage will apply or not. So far everyone who has claimed (I was reading on another board - ivf.ca) has been denied pending review of the coverage.

With all the cut backs not a great time to join the feds, there are benefits but as I won't be going back to my job - tmj and call centre just don't work for me not even sure what my job situation is.

True.

Or I could convince DH to move to Quebec!! His first language is French and I know enough to get by. I would love to live in Quebec City or Montreal!
