    Default My plan

I'm not very good at not having a plan. Plans are what keep me going....

When I come back from vacation, I'm going to book an appt with my doctor and ask for the tests listed on this website.

    http://repro-med.net/repro-med-site2...d=51&Itemid=31

Out of 8 of the "indicators" I have 4 of them.... to me that seems like a reason to test.

I'm just hoping the tests are covered by our provincial health plan! I'll probably have to get DH to come with me as I'm not very good at demanding testing or such....

Sounds like a good plan. I remember when we lived in England, we had to go private to get fertility help since the NHS just didn't cover it. So we shelled out the money and I was able to get pregnant. I'm surprised they didn't test you prior to IUI's. Over here in NJ, they had us do complete work-ups, etc, before we attempted it.

I'm praying it's covered for you and your doctor can sort out tests ASAP.

    /hugs

P.S. Edited to add ...I think you may have had a chemical pregnancy, a faint line, then a gush of blood. I've had a few just like that.

Thanks. Yeah, we did basic blood tests but no immunological testing. I suspect I have issues with immunology though because I can't build immunities to vaccines or sicknesses (i.e. flu shot, MMR vaccine, chicken pox) and most medications I'm either allergic to or they don't work for me. I had a full panel done years ago by experts at a local hospital but they couldn't figure out why I don't build immunities. The allergist/immunologist I was seeing was so hard to book an appt with that I gave up.

I found an immunologist researcher that specializes in reproductive immunology. On a whim I am going to write him an email and ask for his advice on any testing or maybe ongoing research studies he knows of on the subject. He seems to be an expert from what I've been reading in his publications (http://www.uhnresearch.ca/researcher...hp?lookup=1135). (I've been taking some continuing education courses at a local college therefore I have access to their entire journal database which is nice because I can do lots of research for free without having to subscribe to anything!)

I also agree that I think it was a chemical. I thought my test yesterday morning was blank but it was early and dark out and I didn't look too closely. Upon examining last night I could see a second line that was pink. I haven't updated my signature yet just in case there is a miracle and the blood test Friday shows something... I didn't test today though....

Rachael, that seems completely reasonable to ask for those tests to be done. A good friend of mine was having multiple m/c's and they started off by adding progesterone, then switching to crinone, then adding 81mg aspirin, then adding lovenox and finally with her pregnancy that she carried to term they added an IV treatment (IVIG I believe it's called). She was on ALOT (crinone, aspirin, lovenox and the IV treatment) but it was worth it! If I've learned anything from my own journey and that of a couple of my friends, you have to be your own advocate! *HUGS* Hang in there!

IVIG is the right term and it's what my doc had suggested for me for my vaccine issues. It never worked out though as every time I went back to him for a followup he had no new answers and kept telling me to come back at a later time and being that it was so hard to get appts in the first place, I gave up.

I'm seeing a new allergist in June though so maybe this one will have a better plan/idea.

I've said it in the past that sometimes doctors just need to be told what to do. I don't know if its laziness or they just don't believe there could be something wrong, or they are just used to doing the basic. I saw my mom suffer with so many doctors that didn't go above and beyond to see what was wrong with her and it always came down to needing to be firm and demand things. I think this is a great decision. Still holding out for you though!

Sorry about the BFN. I like the idea of having your DH along if you aren't feeling very assertive with asking for specific tests. I had to do something similar with the ob I was seeing prior to the RE. Hope you get some more answers soon!
