OB Appointment - 8/31 Test Results, 9/6 Update

Saw my OB finally at my Aug 31 appt to find out my results.

And everything was normal. Me, DH, everything - was normal.

So my guess is probably my age? maybe lifestyle-related (diet, exercise, sleep, etc)?

Next step now is to get a consultation with the fertility clinic. I've been told that they may recommend IUI if I don't want to go IVF (and I'm honestly not sure I really want to at this stage). I'm gonna call them tomorrow and get that appointment set up right away.

After all - I'm getting older all the time.

So pleased you have answrs Sophia...although being told nothing is wrong can be frustrating too...its not like they can give you something to make it all okay.
Very happy there is nothing wrong which would stop you having your LO!
Let us know what the ob suggests?
What are you leaning towards?

Huge hugs gorgeous!!

Oh man, sometimes I think hearing everything is, "normal" makes it seem harder to know what to do to get that elusive BFP. I heard that for years until I was finally diagnosed with PCOS. If you consider IUI, maybe you could talk to your Dr. about doing timed BDing since all your DH's stuff came back normal as well?? We chose this option when we did it because it saved up $500 a cycle. Sorry you weren't able to get some definitive answers, but I hope this brings you one step closer to a BFP!!!

Glad everything was normal, but sorry you don't have an answer. Good luck with your next appt. I don't blame you for not wanting to do IVF, I don't, either. :bigarmhug:

Glad everything was normal. If it was me I would think about clomid and timed bd - way cheaper. Fingers crossed for you honey! And remember, you are younger and a whole lot healthier then me!

Whatever you decide, I wish you the best of luck!
The Cowtown clinic is AWESOME!!! I wish we had a clinic as wonderful north here, but I am happy we have something rather than nothing

:lurk:
I'm glad everything looks good for you both but I'm sorry you have no real answers  I can only imagine everything being fine just makes it that much more frustrating. I hope you can get an appt asap with the clinic and get the baby-making ball rolling Smile

Glad that everything came out normal and I totally understand as I've been there before!

I would try IUI a few times at least before IVF if it were me, especially if nothing seems to be wrong. I guess IVF is never anyone's first choice but at least you know now that nothing is wrong so maybe it will be easier to decide what route to take.

Hopefully making an appointment doesn't take long.

Thank you ladies, I really appreciate the support, I am really touched.

So, I decided to phone, thinking that it's gonna take a long time to get moving on this fertility stuff.

DH and I are now booked for a consultation Sept 27. They told us to book right away for a repeat SA for DH, since they are now booking for the end of Oct. Apparently they want a repeat SA to test different things than what the OB tested (why didn't the OB just test for that the first time...? I'm sure this is not the first time she's had to refer couples to the fertility clinic!).

So DH called....yeah, he's getting the SA on Monday. I've been told all this consultation and stuff takes months....but we appear to be moving fast here!

...I'll be back to talk more. DD calls.

Not really surprised that they want to run different tests on DH. It seems that every GYN I see has to re-diagnose my PCOS - I was diagnosed at 16, 21, 31 and 40.

Our triplet nephews came from IVF at the Calgary clinic. Of course they are 13 now.

The different SA test on DH is normal -- fertility clinic tests for different things ontop of what the OB tests for, it's a good thing
I believe that Cowtown clinic is starting their "slower" season (if you can call it that) so appt times will go quicker this time of year Smile
If you're going for IVF, you'll have a mtg most likely with a group - I hope you get Dr. Greene, as he is wonderful. PM me if you'd like, if you have any questions.
We went there for IVF with friends, they were accepted and we were rejected -- they accept you if you are not in the small percentage of high risk (which I am).... when you're rejected you wait for another year or two before they will review your file Sad

G/L!

Hi there! I am glad things are moving fast for you! I have found that many OBs, unless they have done a rotation with a RE, don't always do the necessary tests. Many just aren't well trained in the area of infertility. We basically skipped the OB and moved right to a RE. That is how we figured out that my hormones were really wonky. Best of luck as the process moves along for you.

Thanks ladies for all the advice and stories and experience and esp support. I check the fertility clinic website in town for IUI and IVF...wow! I had NO idea IUI was so much cheaper than IVF!!! I would seriously consider this, altho my DH is cringing at my taking Clomid. I was such a b!+ch on high dose prednisone back in the day (for kidney disease) so he is fearful of me taking Clomid. Probably rightly so.

I think I will probably do IUI for a few cycles and see what happens. I am having a hard time justifying IVF at the moment, it costs a lot and we already have a daughter, on whom we probably should be spending the money.... We'll just take it one step at a time and see what happens....

KevinsWife - sorry you are going through something similar, it is so difficult to TTC for so long, I understand. *hugs* Did you get any fertility testing? It might help. Mine's didn't help much, my problem is likely age related since I am 40 years old - if nothing else, it's nice for me to know that I don't have additional problems.

Tacie - *hugs* I am sad that they rejected you. Sad I'm glad that your experience there was positive tho. I may just PM you when I get closer to the Sept 27 appt. Dr Green is apparently the medical director now, so I dunno if he can be my dr. He does sound pretty awesome tho! I just had to LOL when you mention the clinic's "slow season". So when is "high season"?

Melanie - I kinda got that impression with my OB....I mean, she is experienced and knows a lot about fertility I think but her focus is on pregnancy not infertility. Honestly, no matter what my test results were, she probably would have referred me there anyway.

I'm pretty excited now, lots to do this month before getting to Sept 27 but I'll bet time will go sooooooooo slow for me!

Sophia Im glad things are moving fast for you, you might want to ask if the RE want to add injections and a trigger to get more eggs and to make sure your body release those eggs.

Nah, don't be sad we were rejected - it is what it is. I had a feeling that I was going to be before going into it so it was not a big surprise when it was confirmed. I did, however, get to experience it thru my g/f as they were accepted and her DH was away while she was snorting and I was the one who poked her (injections) as she could not poke herself ....I got to go with her for her first u/s appt and seen her babes -- it was all good Smile

I've had a few (understatement) IUI's -- both on Clomid and with injections. If I were you I would seriously consider talking with them about doing Puregon injections with IUI -- this way they can monitor your follies and you can trigger when they are mature instead of peeing on sticks and hoping that you get the timing correct for everything. It is more of a pain as you are in for u/s every few days, but it's worth the extra time and money I think -- and it's alot closer to IVF process but ALOT cheaper.

"Low Season" is when the clinic seems to slow down -- usually around now and later in the winter people tend to shy away due to finances or being pregnant during the summer... not sure really, but that is how it goes. The "High Season" when it's the busiest is in the spring - it turns into a mad house!

G/L with everything - Sept 27th will be here sooner than you think Smile

Please KUP on everything
